To Believe in Jesus – Part 1
What does it mean to believe in Jesus?
Is Jesus just another person’s name?
Who is this Jesus of Nazareth?
ཡོ་ཧ་ནན། 1:6-8
6དེ་ཡང་ཡོ་ཧ་ནན་ཞེས་སྐྱེས་བུ༌དེ།།
དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ནི་མངགས་ཤིང་འོངས་པ༌སྟེ།།
7གཟི་འོད་དེ་ལ་བདེན་དཔང་བྱེད་པ༌དང༌།།
སྐྱེ་བོ་ཀུན་གྱིས་ཁོ་རང་བརྒྱུད་ནས་ནི།།
དད་པ་བྱེད་ཕྱིར་ཁོ་རང་འོངས་པ་ཡིན།།
8ཡོ་ཧ་ནན་ནི་གཟི་འོད་མིན་ན༌ཡང༌།།
གཟི་འོད་དེ་ལ་བདེན་དཔང་བྱེད་པར༌འོངས།།
John 1:6-8
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him. 8 He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light.
The Gospel of John was written about Jesus with the clear intention that we may know and believe this is the Messiah our hope of salvation.
One may ask “salvation? Save from what?”
Our human civilization have gone so deep into darkness, human behaviors worldwide have become so accustomed to corruptions, that moral failures and unrestrained bloodshed are pervasive. People are not aware we are doom for judgement, hell and destruction, unless we repent and cry out to the Messiah for salvation.
We need to be redeemed from sin, condemnation, and death.
Politicians worldwide will continue to lie about climate change giving people false hope that we can fix all sorts of problems here on earth. But the whole world today has gone corrupted like as the days of Noah and that because of human sins. If we think about it, all the pollution here on earth are caused by human activities human endeavor for urbanization, commerce and industrial expansion.
Leaders of this world, political and religious, will not talk about the “s” word – SIN. They will not expose the sins of people to call for repentance because they themselves have no trust in Jesus the Messiah appointed of God to save Mankind and what we are looking at today worldwide is a pervasive situation of “blind leading the blind” which translates into massive public resentment expressed through aggressive civic disobedience.
We are called to trust in Jesus for salvation!
Throughout the Gospel of John there is the repeated message about “believe in Jesus” and this message was for those who were waiting for a Messiah, a Savior!
This same message is still relevant to us today who are seeking and waiting for the Messiah.
The “John” mentioned in v6 was referring to John the Baptist a prophet of God who was sent by God to prepare the way before the appearance of the Messiah

དབེན་སྟོང་ཡུལ་ནས་གྲགས་པའི་འབོད་སྒྲ༌ཡིས།།
གཙོ་བོའི་ཕེབས་ལམ་སྟ་གོན༌བྱེད་པ་དང་།།
ཁོང་གི་གཤེགས་ལམ་དྲང་པོར་བཟོ་བར༌གྱིས།།
5ལུང་བ་ཐམས་ཅད་བཀང་བར་མཛད་ངེས༌ཤིང༌།།
རི་སྒང་མཐའ་དག་སྙོམས་པར་མཛད་པ༌དང༌།།
ཀྱག་ཀྱོག་ལམ་ནི་དྲང་པོར་མཛད་ངེས༌དང༌།།
མཐོ་དམན་ལམ་ནི་བདེ་བར་མཛད་པར༌འགྱུར།།
6དེའི་རྗེས་དཀོན་མཆོག་ཉིད་ཀྱི་ཐར་པ་ཉིད།།
མི་རྣམས་ཀུན་གྱིས་དངོས་སུ་མཐོང་བར༌འགྱུར།།
ཞེས་བཀོད་པ་བཞིན་བྱུང༌ངོ༌།།
7ཡོ་ཧ་ནན་གྱིས་ཁྲུས་གསོལ་ལ་ཞུགས་སུ་ཡོང་བའི་མི་ཚོགས་ལ་འདི་སྐད༌དུ། དུག་སྦྲུལ་གྱི་རྒྱུད་ཁྱོད་ཅག་ལ་སུ་ཞིག་གིས་མ་འོངས་པའི་ཐུགས་ཁྲོ་ལས་འབྲོ་བར་བསྟན༌ནམ། 8དེ་བས་ན་ཁྱོད་ཅག་གིས་འགྱོད་བཤགས་དང་མཐུན་པའི་འབྲས་བུ་ལེགས་པོར་སྐྱེད༌ཅིག ཁྱོད་ཅག་གི་སེམས་སུ་ཨབ་ར་ཧམ་ནི་ངེད་ཅག་གི་ཡབ་མེས་ཡིན་ཞེས་མ་སེམས༌ཤིག ངས་ཁྱོད་ཅག་ལ༌སྨྲ་སྟེ། དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་རྡོ་འདི་དག་ལས་ཨབ་ར་ཧམ་ལ་བུ་རྒྱུད་འབྱུང་བར་མཛད་ནུས་སོ།། 9ད་ནི་སྟ་རེ་སྡོང་རྩར་བཞག་ཡོད༌དེ། ཤིང་སྡོང་གང་ལ་འབྲས་བུ་ལེགས་པོ་མི་སྨིན་པ་དེ་བཅད་ནས་མེའི་ནང་དུ་འཕེན་པར་འགྱུར་ཞེས་གསུངས་པ༌དང༌།
Luke 3:1-9
In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar—when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, Herod tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of Iturea and Traconitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene— 2 during the high-priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John son of Zechariah in the wilderness. 3 He went into all the country around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. 4 As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet:
“A voice of one calling in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.
5 Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low.
The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth.
6 And all people will see God’s salvation.’”
7 John said to the crowds coming out to be baptized by him, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? 8 Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham. 9 The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.”
John the Baptist had a clear message proclaiming God’s demand for repentance and to be ready for God’s judgement, either for condemnation or to receive salvation.
The call for repentance went forth because God had given Man the will to make decision to receive or to reject God’s offer of salvation with condition of repentance. That means to trust and obey God’s message and to act on it.
From the time of Noah before The Flood, God had a repeated pattern of sending His servants His prophet to warn people of judgement and call for repentance
ཡེར་མི་ཡཱ 7:25
25ཁྱོད་ཚོའི་ཕ་མེས་ཚོ་ཨི་ཇིབ་ནས་ཐོན་པའི་ཉིན་མ་ནས་དུས་དེ་རིང་གི་བར་དུ་ངས་ངའི་ཞབས་ཕྱི་ལུང་སྟོན་པ་ཚོ་མུ་མཐུད་ཁྱོད་ཚོའི་སར་བཏང་ཡོད།
Jeremiah 7:25
25 From the day that your fathers came out of the land of Egypt to this day, I have persistently sent all my servants the prophets to them, day after day.
What made the Gospel of John important was the timing of the appearing of the Messiah!
With the appearing of the Messiah it means God’s salvation plan for Mankind is revealed in full. And that also means His ultimate final judgement is near.
God’s will, God’s plan, God’s purpose to save Mankind from sin and death through the Messiah is revealed in full in Jesus and therefore the Gospel of John was written with clear intention that we may believe in Jesus and act upon what He said and be prepared for our ultimate redemption that we may live in eternity with His kingdom forever.
