What we can learn from the letters of Peter about practice of faith in Christ in times of uncertainty.
པེ་ཏྲོ་གཉིས་པ། 3:15-18
15 དྲན་སྐུལ་བྱེད་དགོས་པར་ངེད་རྣམས་ཀྱི་གཙོ་བོའི་ཐུགས་ངང་རྒྱུད་རིང་པོ་ནི་མི་རྣམས་ཐར་པ་ཐོབ་པའི་གོ་སྐབས་ཡོང་ཆེད་ཡིན། དེ་ལྟར་ང་ཚོའི་གཅེས་པའི་སྤུན་ཟླ་པའུ་ལུ་ཡིས་ཀྱང་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ཁོང་ལ་གནང་བའི་ཤེས་རབ་བཞིན་དུ་ཁྱེད་ཚོར་བྲིས།
16 ཁོང་གི་འཕྲིན་ཡིག་ཐམས་ཅད་ཀྱི་ནང་དོན་དེ་ཚོའི་སྐོར་བྲིས་ཡོད། དེའི་ནང་ལ་རྟོགས་པར་དཀའ་བའི་དོན་ཁ་ཤས་ཡོད་དེ། སློབ་སྦྱོང་བྱེད་མྱོང་མེད་པ་དང་སེམས་བརྟན་པོ་མེད་པ་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་མདོ་གཞན་ལ་གང་བྱེད་པ་ལྟར་དོན་དེ་ཚོ་ལའང་འཁྱོག་བཤད་བྱེད་པས་མཐར་རང་ཉིད་འཇིག་པའི་རྒྱུར་འགྱུར།
17 དེའི་ཕྱིར་གཅེས་པའི་སྤུན་ཟླ་རྣམས། དོན་དེ་ཚོ་སྔོན་ནས་རྟོགས་ཟིན་པས། ཁྲིམས་འགལ་བ་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་ནོར་འཁྲུལ་གྱིས་མི་བསླུ་བ་དང༌། གནས་བརྟན་པོ་མི་བརླག་པའི་ཕྱིར་དོགས་ཟོན་གྱིས་ཤིག
18 ང་ཚོའི་གཙོ་བོ་དང་སྐྱབས་མགོན་ཡེ་ཤུ་མཱ་ཤི་ཀའི་ཐུགས་རྗེ་དང་རྟོགས་པའི་ནང་རྒྱས་པར་གྱུར་ཅིག ད་ལྟ་ནས་དུས་ནམ་ཡང་ཁོང་ལ་གཟི་བརྗིད་དང་ལྡན་པར་གྱུར་ཅིག ཨ་མེན།། །།
2 Peter 3:15-18
15 And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, 16 as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures. 17 You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability. 18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
Peter in his ending message made mention of Paul’s letters to the disciples and speak of the same subject about our salvation.
Paul was an expert in Jewish rabbinic laws before Jesus saved him from his error and made him an outstanding preacher of the gospel.
The provision of our salvation possible is in “the patience of our Lord” clearly demonstrated in God’s mercy to forgive us of our sins when we turn from our wicked ways and embrace the righteousness of God fulfilled in Jesus.
རོ་མཱ་པ། 5:6-11
6 གང་ལགས་ཤེ་ན། ངེད་རྣམས་ལ་ཐར་ཐབས་མེད་པའི་ཚེ། དུས་ལ་འབབ་སྐབས་མཱ་ཤི་ཀ་སྡིག་ཅན་རྣམས་ཀྱི་ཆེད་དུ་གྲོངས།
7 རང་གཤིས་བཟང་པོ་ཞིག་གི་དོན་ལ་སྲོག་གཏོང་བ་དེ་དཀོན་པོ་ཡིན་ཡང༌། མི་ཧ་ཅང་བཟང་པོ་ཞིག་གི་དོན་ལ་སྲོག་གཏོང་བར་ནུས་སྲིད།
8 འོན་ཀྱང་ངེད་རྣམས་ད་དུང་སྡིག་ཉེས་ཅན་ཡིན་པའི་དུས་སུ། མཱ་ཤི་ཀ་ང་ཚོའི་དོན་དུ་སྐུ་སྲོག་བཏང་གནང་བའི་སྒོ་ནས་དཀོན་མཆོག་ཉིད་ཀྱི་བྱམས་པ་ཇི་ཙམ་ཡོད་པ་ངེད་རྣམས་ལ་བསྟན་པར་མཛད།
9 ད་ཁོང་གི་སྐུ་ཁྲག་གི་སྒོ་ནས་ངེད་རྣམས་རྣམ་པར་དག་པར་བརྩིས་པར་གྱུར་བས། ཁོང་བརྒྱུད་ནས་ང་ཚོ་དེ་བས་ཀྱང་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་ཐུགས་ཁྲོ་ལས་ཐར་བར་འགྱུར།
10 གང་ཡིན་ཞེ་ན། ང་ཚོ་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་དགྲ་བོ་ཡིན་པའི་དུས་སུ། ཁོང་གིས་ཉིད་ཀྱི་སྲས་སྐུ་སྲོག་བཏང་གནང་བའི་སྒོ་ནས་ང་ཚོ་དང་བསྡུམས་པར་མཛད་ན། ད་བསྡུམས་ཚར་བས་དེ་བས་ཀྱང་ཁོང་གི་སྐུ་ཚེ་ཡིས་ངེད་རྣམས་ཐར་བར་མཛད་པར་འགྱུར།
11 དེས་མ་ཟད་ང་ཚོའི་གཙོ་བོ་ཡེ་ཤུ་མཱ་ཤི་ཀ་བརྒྱུད་ནས་ངེད་རྣམས་དཀོན་མཆོག་དང་བསྡུམས་པས་ང་ཚོས་དཀོན་མཆོག་ལ་ཡི་རང་ངོ༌།།
Romans 5:6-11
6 For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— 8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. 10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. 11 More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
In the days of Peter and Paul there were false teachers and prophets who were misleading the disciples to disregard the certainty of God’s judgement and to suggest and even approve lascivious behavior of wanton intention.
Apparently these misleading characters were making mockery of God’s patient and mercy and they themselves have no fear of God.
Therefore Peter’s message to the disciples is to stand firm and persevere in their faith in Jesus Christ

17 དེའི་ཕྱིར་གཅེས་པའི་སྤུན་ཟླ་རྣམས། དོན་དེ་ཚོ་སྔོན་ནས་རྟོགས་ཟིན་པས། ཁྲིམས་འགལ་བ་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་ནོར་འཁྲུལ་གྱིས་མི་བསླུ་བ་དང༌། གནས་བརྟན་པོ་མི་བརླག་པའི་ཕྱིར་དོགས་ཟོན་གྱིས་ཤིག
18 ང་ཚོའི་གཙོ་བོ་དང་སྐྱབས་མགོན་ཡེ་ཤུ་མཱ་ཤི་ཀའི་ཐུགས་རྗེ་དང་རྟོགས་པའི་ནང་རྒྱས་པར་གྱུར་ཅིག ད་ལྟ་ནས་དུས་ནམ་ཡང་ཁོང་ལ་གཟི་བརྗིད་དང་ལྡན་པར་གྱུར་ཅིག ཨ་མེན།། །།
2 Peter 3:17-18
17 You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability. 18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
We are to grow in the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to increase in knowledge and understanding of God’s will that we may live in a manner that will glorify Jesus at His return.
Peter’s message has repeated warning against those who disregard God’s moral law and God’s judgement as we see what is happening in the world today.
Peter was writing to disciples who were already aware of pervasive widespread moral corruptions in societies and the difficulties for us is how do we live in this co-shared environment? How do we deal with neighbors who do not walk in the light?
Our current world situation is heading towards increasing moral corruptions and confusion and all these under the influence of the power of darkness. Therefore we need to stand firm in our faith and preserver in observing the ways and teachings of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
ཡོ་ཧ་ནན་དང་པོ། 2:15-19
15འཇིག་རྟེན་འདི་དང་འཇིག་རྟེན་གྱི་དངོས་པོ་ཀུན་ལ་ཞེན་ཆགས༌པར་མི་བྱའོ། །གལ་ཏེ། མི་སུ་ཞིག་འཇིག་རྟེན་ལ་ཞེན་ཆགས་པར་གྱུར་ན། མི་དེའི་སེམས་སུ་ཡབ་ལ་གཅེས་པའི་སེམས་ནི་ཡོད་པ་མ་ཡིན་ནོ།། 16ཅིའི་ཕྱིར་ཞེ་ན། འཇིག་རྟེན་གྱི་དོན་ཐམས་ཅད་དེ། ཤ་གཟུགས་ཀྱི་འདོད་ཆགས་དང་། མིག་གི་འདོད༌ཆགས། ཚེ་འདིའི་ང་རྒྱལ་བཅས་ནི་ཡབ་ནས་བྱུང་བ་མ་ཡིན་པར་འཇིག་རྟེན་ནས་བྱུང་བའི་ཕྱིར་རོ།། 17འཇིག་རྟེན་འདི་དང་འཇིག་རྟེན་གྱི་འདོད་ཆགས་ཐམས་ཅད་འཇིག་པར་འགྱུར༌མོད། འོན་ཀྱང་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་ཐུགས་དགོངས་བཞིན་སྒྲུབ་མཁན་ནི་གཏན་དུ་གནས་པར་འགྱུར་རོ།།
18བུ་ཕྲུག༌རྣམས། ད་ནི་མཐའ་མའི་དུས་སྐབས་ཡིན༌ལ། སྐྱབས་མགོན་མཱ་ཤི་ཀའི་བསྟན་དགྲ་ཡོང་ངེས་པ་ཁྱོད་ཅག་གིས་ཐོས་མྱོང་བ༌ལྟར། ད་ལྟ་སྐྱབས་མགོན་མཱ་ཤི་ཀའི་བསྟན་དགྲ་མང་པོ་ཡོང་ཡོད་པས། བདག་ཅག་གིས་ད་ལྟ་ནི་མཐའ་མའི་དུས་སྐབས་ཡིན་པ་ཤེས། 19དེ་དག་ནི་བདག་ཅག་གི་ཁྲོད་ནས་ཕྱི་རོལ་ཏུ་སོང་བ་ཡིན༌མོད། འོན་ཀྱང་བདག་ཅག་ལ་གཏོགས་པ་མ་ཡིན། དེ་རྣམས་བདག་ཅག་ལ་གཏོགས་པ་ཡིན་ན། སྔར་བཞིན་བདག་ཅག་དང་ལྷན་དུ་འགྲོག་ངེས༌མོད། འོན་ཀྱང་དེ་རྣམས་ཕྱི་རོལ་ཏུ་སོང་བས་བདག་ཅག་ལ་མི་གཏོགས་པ་གསལ་པོར་མངོན་ནོ།།
1 John 2:15-19
15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life —is not from the Father but is from the world. 17 And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.
18 Children, it is the last hour, and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come. Therefore we know that it is the last hour. 19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us.
John’s message reminded disciples the danger of neglecting our love, loyalty, and commitment to the truth of God’s words that exposed the sins and wickedness of this world and to be aware of those who were influencing disciples to depart from the teachings of Jesus and falling back to the ways of the world.
The current world is not a safe place because of spiritual darkness at work but we have the word of God, the light of the Gospel, Jesus our Shepherd leading us the way of light and eternal life.
