1 Peter 3:1-7

1-2 དེ་བཞིན་དུ་ཁྱེད་ཆུང་མ་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་ཁྱོ་གའི་དབང་ཆ་དང་ལེན་བྱེད་དགོས། དེ་ནི་ཁྱོ་གའི་ནང་ནས་ཁ་ཤས་ཀྱིས་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་བཀའ་ལ་མ་ཉན་ཡང༌། ཁྱེད་ཚོའི་སྤྱོད་ལམ་ལྷད་མེད་ཅིང་བག་ཡོད་པ་མཐོང་ནས། ཤོད་མི་དགོས་པར་ཁྱེད་ཀྱི་སྤྱོད་ལམ་བཟང་པོས་འགུགས་པའི་ཆེད་དུ་ཡིན་ནོ།

3 མཛེས་སྡུག་ལྡན་པའི་ཕྱིར་མགོའི་སྐྲ་ལྷས་པའམ། གསེར་གྱི་རྒྱན་ཆའམ། རིན་ཆེ་བའི་གོས་ལ་སོགས་ལ་མ་བརྟེན་པར།

4 ཁྱེད་ཀྱི་རྒྱན་ཆ་ནི་ནང་སེམས་སུ་ནམ་ཡང་ཞི་འཇམ་ལྷིང་འཇགས་ཁོ་ན་དགོས་ཏེ། དེ་ནི་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་སྤྱན་སྔར་རིན་ཆེན་ཡིན།

5 གནའ་བོའི་དུས་སུ་དཀོན་མཆོག་ལ་རེ་བའི་བུད་མེད་དམ་པ་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་ཁྱོ་གའི་དབང་ཆ་དང་ལེན་བྱེད་པ་དེ་རྒྱན་དུ་བརྩི།

6 དཔེར་ན། མེས་པོ་ས་རཱ་ཡིས་རང་གི་ཁྱོ་ག་ཨབ་ར་ཧམ་ལ་བདག་པོ་ཞེས་ཟེར་བས་ཁོང་གི་བཀའ་ལ་ཉན། ཅིས་ཀྱང་མི་འཇིགས་པར་བཟང་པོ་བྱས་ན་ཁྱེད་ཚོ་ནི་ཁོང་གི་བུ་མོ་ཡིན།

7 དེ་བཞིན་དུ་ཁྱེད་ཁྱོ་ག་རྣམས། ཆུང་མ་ལ་བཀུར་སྟི་བྱེད་ཅིང༌། སེམས་བཟང་པོས་ཁོ་མོ་དང་མཉམ་དུ་འཚོ་བ་སྐྱེལ། དེ་ལྟར་བྱས་ན་སོ་སོའི་སྨོན་ལམ་ལ་བར་ཆད་མི་འབྱུང༌། ཁོང་ཚོ་ཁྱེད་ལས་སྟོབས་ཆུང་ཡང༌། ཁྱེད་དང་མཚུངས་པར་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ཐུགས་རྗེས་གནང་བའི་དཔག་ཏུ་མེད་པའི་ཚེ་འཛིན་མཁན་ཡིན།

Study Points

. Peter speaks of family’s priority and purpose to live according to the word of God and both husbands and wives are to share the same burden and vision

. In circumstances when one party is not willing although professing knowledge of the word of God, there is the need for patience and prayers

. Important consideration is for the purpose of obeying the word of God and to preserver in faith but in situation of violent objection, persecution and opposition of faith, and a person’s life is being threaten, and if God’s providence allow for one to be delivered it is better to live in separate environment for the sake of committing one’s life to prayers, sanctification, and holiness

. We are called to peace and holiness but not to give up on our faith in Christ

1 Peter 3:1-7

1 Likewise, wives, be subject to your own husbands, so that even if some do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by the conduct of their wives, 2 when they see your respectful and pure conduct. 3 Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— 4 but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious. 5 For this is how the holy women who hoped in God used to adorn themselves, by submitting to their own husbands, 6 as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord. And you are her children, if you do good and do not fear anything that is frightening.

7 Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.

1 Peter 2:11-25

11 གཅེས་པའི་སྤུན་ཟླ་རྣམས། ཁྱེད་ཚོ་གནས་གཡར་བ་དང་ངོ་མི་ཤེས་པ་ལྟར་འཇིག་རྟེན་འདིར་སྡོད་པས། ངས་ཁྱེད་ཚོའི་སེམས་ཉིད་ལ་རྒོལ་བའི་འདོད་ཆགས་སྤོང་བར་སྐུལ།

12 དད་མེད་པ་རྣམས་ཀྱི་ཁྲོད་དུ་སྤྱོད་ལམ་བཟང་པོ་བྱོས་ཤིག དེ་ནས་ཁོ་ཚོས་ཁྱེད་རྣམས་ངན་པ་བྱེད་མཁན་ཡིན་ཞེས་ཟེར་ཡང༌། ཁྱེད་ཚོའི་སྤྱོད་ལམ་བཟང་པོ་མཐོང་ནས་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་འབྱོན་པའི་ཉིན་མོར་ཁོ་ཚོས་ཁོང་ལ་བསྟོད་བསྔགས་བྱེད་པར་འགྱུར།

13-14 ཁྱེད་ཚོས་གཙོ་བོའི་དོན་དུ་སྲིད་འཛིན་པ་ཐམས་ཅད་ལ་བཀུར་དགོས་ཏེ། དབང་ཆ་མཐོ་ཤོས་ཀྱི་རྒྱལ་པོའམ། ཡང་ན་ཁོང་གིས་མངགས་པའི་སྤྱི་ཁྱབ་རྣམས་ལ་བཀུར་དགོས། སྤྱི་ཁྱབ་རྣམས་མངགས་པའི་རྒྱུ་མཚན་ནི་ངན་པ་བྱེད་མཁན་རྣམས་ལ་ཆད་པ་གཏོང་ཞིང༌། ལེགས་སྤྱོད་མཁན་ལ་བསྟོད་པ་བྱེད་པའི་ཕྱིར་རོ།

15 གང་ལགས་ཤེ་ན། ཁྱེད་ཚོས་བཟང་པོ་བྱེད་པའི་སྒོ་ནས་བླུན་པོའི་གཏམ་འགོག་རྒྱུ་དེ་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་ཐུགས་དགོངས་ཡིན།

16 ཁྱེད་ཚོ་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་ཞབས་ཕྱི་ཡིན་ཏེ་རང་དབང་ལྡན་པ་ལྟར་མི་ཚེ་སྐྱེལ། འོན་ཀྱང་རང་དབང་ལ་ཁ་གཡར་ཏེ་ངན་པའི་ལས་མ་བྱེད།

17 མི་ཐམས་ཅད་ལ་བཀུར་སྟི་བྱོས། སྤུན་ཟླ་རྣམས་ལ་བྱམས་ཤིག དཀོན་མཆོག་ལ་བསྙེན་བཀུར་བྱེད་ཅིང༌། རྒྱལ་པོ་ལ་བཀུར་སྟི་བྱོས།

18 བྲན་གཡོག་རྣམས། སོ་སོའི་བདག་པོ་ལ་བཀུར་སྟི་ཆེན་པོས་ཁ་ལ་ཉན་དགོས། སེམས་བཟང་པོ་དང་འཇམ་པོ་ཁོ་ན་ལ་མ་ཡིན་པར། དྲག་པོ་རྣམས་ལའང་འདི་ལྟར་བྱེད་དགོས།

19 རྒྱུ་མཚན་ནི། གལ་ཏེ་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་སྐོར་བསམ་བློ་བཏང་ནས་མི་འོས་པའི་སྡུག་བསྔལ་བཟོད་པར་བྱས་ན། དེ་ནི་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་སྤྱན་སྔར་བསྟོད་པའི་རྒྱུ་ཡིན།

20 སྡིག་ལས་བྱས་པས་ཉེས་རྡུང་བཟོད་ན་བསྟོད་པའི་རྒྱུ་ཅི་ཡིན། འོན་ཀྱང་བཟང་པོ་བྱས་ནས་སྡུག་བསྔལ་བྱུང་བ་བཟོད་ན་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་སྤྱན་སྔར་བསྟོད་པའི་རྒྱུ་ཡིན།

21 ཁྱེད་ཚོ་དོན་འདི་རང་ལ་བོས་པ་ཡིན། གང་ཡིན་ཟེར་ན། མཱ་ཤི་ཀའི་རྗེས་སུ་འབྲང་བའི་ཕྱིར། ཁྱེད་ཚོའི་དོན་ལ་སྡུག་བསྔལ་མྱོང་བའི་སྒོ་ནས་ཁོང་གིས་ཁྱེད་ཚོ་ལ་མིག་དཔེ་ཞིག་བཞག་པར་མཛད།

22 ཁོང་གིས་སྡིག་ཉེས་ཅི་ཡང་མ་མཛད་ཅིང༌།།

23 མཱ་ཤི་ཀར་དམའ་འབེབས་གཏོང་མཁན་རྣམས་ལ་ལན་སློག་པར་མ་མཛད། སྡུག་བསྔལ་མྱོང་སྐབས་ཁོང་གིས་འཇིགས་སྣང་མ་སྐུལ་བར་དྲང་བདེན་གྱིས་ཁྲིམས་གཅོད་གཏོང་མཁན་ལ་བཅོལ།

24 ངེད་རྣམས་སྡིག་ཉེས་ཀྱི་ཆ་ནས་ཤི་ཞིང༌། དྲང་བདེན་ཉིད་ཀྱི་དོན་ལ་འཚོ་བའི་ཕྱིར། ཁོང་ཉིད་ཀྱིས་རྒྱང་ཤིང་སྟེང་ང་ཚོའི་སྡིག་ཉེས་ཀྱི་ཆད་པ་རང་གི་སྐུ་ལུས་ཐོག་མྱངས། ཁོང་གི་རྨ་ཡིས་ཁྱེད་རྣམས་གསོས་པར་གྱུར་རོ།

25 སྔར་ཁྱེད་ཚོ་ལུག་ལྟར་ཁྱམས་ཀྱང༌། ད་ཁྱེད་ཚོའི་སེམས་སྲུང་མཁན་གྱི་རྫི་བོའི་དྲུང་དུ་ཕྱིར་ལོག་གོ།

Study Points

. Peter’s teaching on servanthood as an act of faith to our real and ultimate master, our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ

. As Jesus laid down His life for the will of the Father likewise we lay down our lives to do the will of the Father

. Peter’s message of servanthood is in contrast to those who do not set priority in serving God’s will

. Looking back in history we can know Peter was communicating with disciples who in their near future were engulfed in the long and devastating Jewish-Roman wars and the destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70. Imagine the intense political and social situation prior to war and conflict and disciples would be very concern how to react and relate to the Roman authority.

. Our hope and future is in the kingdom of God to be in union with Christ and the Father, therefore Peter’s key point about servanthood is “that we might die to sin and live to righteousness”

1 Peter 2:11-25

11 Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. 12 Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.

13 Be subject for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme, 14 or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good. 15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. 16 Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. 17 Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.

18 Servants, be subject to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the unjust. 19 For this is a gracious thing, when, mindful of God, one endures sorrows while suffering unjustly. 20 For what credit is it if, when you sin and are beaten for it, you endure? But if when you do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sight of God. 21 For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. 22 He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. 23 When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly. 24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. 25 For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

1 Peter 2:9-10

9 འོན་ཀྱང་མུན་པ་ལས་ཁོང་གི་ཡ་མཚན་ཆེ་བའི་འོད་ནང་དུ་བོས་པར་མཛད་མཁན་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་ཁྱད་དུ་འཕགས་པའི་མཛད་པ་སྒྲོག་པའི་ཕྱིར། ཁྱེད་ཚོ་ནི་བདམས་པའི་མི་རིགས་དང༌། རྒྱལ་རིགས་ཀྱི་ཆོས་དཔོན། མི་རྒྱུད་དམ་པ། དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་ཁོངས་མི་བཅས་ཡིན་ནོ།།

10 སྔར་སོང་ཁྱེད་ཚོ་འབངས་མི་མ་ཡིན་ཡང༌།།

ད་ཆ་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་འབངས་མི་སུ་གྱུར།།

སྔར་སོང་ཁྱེད་ཚོར་ཐུགས་རྗེ་མ་ཐོབ་ཀྱང༌།།

ད་ནི་ཁྱེད་ཚོར་ཐུགས་རྗེ་ཐོབ་པར་གྱུར།།

དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་ཞབས་ཏོག་སྒྲུབ་དགོས།

Study Points

. Peter speaks of the disciples’ position as “chosen race” being called to be faithful witness of God’s deliverance and redemption

. God through Jesus’s death and resurrection delivered us from the power of darkness that we can walk in the light

. God through Jesus’s death and resurrection redeemed us from our earthly life of corruption having no hope of eternal life, and made us “God’s people” to partake of Jesus’ resurrection that we may be in His kingdom

1 Peter 2:9-10

9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellency of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
