To Believe in Jesus – Part 67

 

ཡོ་ཧ་ནན། 6:35-40

35དེ་ནས་སྐྱབས་མགོན་ཡེ་ཤུས་འདི་སྐད༌དུ། བདག་ནི་ཚེ་སྲོག་གི་བག་ལེབ་ཡིན༌ཏེ། ངའི་གམ་དུ་ཡོང་བ་རྣམས་ལ་བཀྲེས་ལྟོགས་མི་འབྱུང༌ཞིང༌། ཡང་ང་རང་ལ་དད་པ་བྱེད་མཁན་རྣམས་ནམ་ཡང་སྐོམ་མི་སྲིད། 36འོན་ཀྱང་བདག་གིས་སྨྲས་པ་བཞིན་ཁྱོད་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་ང་རང་མཐོང་ནའང་དད་པ་མི་བྱེད་དོ།། 37དེ་ཡང་ཡབ་ཀྱིས་ང་རང་ལ་བསྩལ་བའི་མི་ཐམས་ཅད་བདག་གི་དྲུང་དུ་ཡོང་ངེས༌ཤིང༌། བདག་གི་གམ་དུ་ཡོང་བའི་མི་སུ་ཡིན་ཡང་བདག་གིས་ནམ་ཡང་འདོར་མི་སྲིད་དོ།། 38རྒྱུ་མཚན་ནི་ང་རང་ནམ་མཁའི་ཞིང་ཁམས་ནས་ཡོང་དོན་ནི་རང་གི་བསམ་དོན་བཞིན་བསྒྲུབ་པའི་ཕྱིར་འོངས་པ་མིན༌ཏེ། ང་རང་མངགས་མཁན་གྱི་དགོངས་པ་བཞིན་དུ་བསྒྲུབ་པའི་ཕྱིར་ཡོང༌བ་ཡིན། 39ང་རང་མངགས་མཁན་ཁོང་གི་དགོངས་པ་ནི་ཁོང་གིས་བདག་ལ་གནང་བ་ཐམས་ཅད་ལས་བདག་གིས་གཅིག་ཀྱང་མི་སྟོར༌བར། མཐའ་མའི་ཉིན་མོ་ལ་དེ་རྣམས་སླར་གསོན་དུ་འཇུག་པ་དེ་ཡིན་ནོ།། 40རྒྱུ་མཚན་ནི་སྲས་དེ་ཉིད་མཇལ་ནས་དད་པ་བྱེད་མཁན་ཐམས་ཅད་ལ་མཐའ་མེད་པའི་ཚེ་སྲོག་འཐོབ་པ༌དང༌། མཐའ་མའི་ཉིན་མོར་ཡང་བདག་གིས་དེ་རྣམས་སླར་གསོན་དུ་འཇུག་དགོས་པ་ནི་བདག་གི་ཡབ་ཀྱི་དགོངས་པའང་ཡིན་ཞེས་གསུངས༌སོ།།

John 6:35-40

35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. 36 But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe. 37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out. 38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day. 40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”

 

From here Jesus address His opponents straight to the point – they just refused to believe He is chosen and approved of God to teach and show them the way of redemption and restoration to peace and eternal life with God.

Since times of old, God’s messages to His chosen people like Abraham and Moses do speaks of redemption from condemnation of sin and judgement. And the idea of redemption do points to restoration to everlasting life with God which Adam and Eve forfeited after they committed sin against God’s word.

Consider our human history, we must acknowledge and believe we human were created by God and Adam and Eve being the first human couple was granted access to the Tree of Life which means they could live forever.

But Adam and Eve did not live forever, what happened?

As according to scripture truth, Adam and Eve fell into sin through acts of disobedience – they did what they were told not to do. Sin is in our human acts of disobedience against God’s words.

We also know from the records of Noah and the Flood, how God condemn the world of sin and saved Noah who trusted and obey. And during the time of Moses, how God delivered the children of Israel from Egypt, again the idea of God’s redemption for Man based on trust and obedience is highlighted –

 

བཀའ་ལུང་། 30:19-20

19ངས་དེ་རིང་གནམ་ས་གཉིས་དཔང་དུ་བཙུགས་ཏེ་ཁྱོད་རྣམས་ཀྱི་མདུན་དུ་ཚེ་སྲོག་དང་འཆི་བ། བྱིན་རླབས་དང་དམོད་མོ་བཤམས་ཡོད། དེ་བས་ཁྱོད་རྣམས་དང་ཁྱོད་ཅག་གི་བུ་རྒྱུད་ཀྱི་སྲོག་འཚོ་བའི་ཆེད་དུ་ཚེ་སྲོག་འདེམས་དགོས། 20ཁྱོད་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་ཁྱོད་ཅག་གི་དཀོན་མཆོག་ཡ་ཝཱེ་ལ་གཅེས་ཤིང་ཁོང་གི་གསུང་སྐད་ལ་མཉན་ནས་ཁོང་ལ་དམ་པོར་བརྟེན་དགོས། ཅི་ལ་ཞེ་ན། ཁོང་ནི་ཁྱོད་ཅག་གི་ཚེ་སྲོག་ཡིན་ལ་ཁོང་གིས་ཁྱོད་ཅག་ཚེ་ཐག་རིང་བར་མཛད་པའོ། །དེ་ལྟར་བྱས་ན་དཀོན་མཆོག་ཡ་ཝཱེས་ཁྱོད་རྣམས་ཀྱི་ཕ་མེས་ཨབ་ར་ཧམ་དང་ཨི་སཱག ཡ་ཀོབ་བཅས་ལ་གནང་བར་མནའ་བཞེས་པའི་ཡུལ་དུ་ཁྱོད་ཅག་གནས་ཐུབ་པ་ཡིན་ཞེས་བཀའ་བསྩལ་ཏོ། །

Deuteronomy 30:19-20

19 I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live, 20 loving the Lord your God, obeying his voice and holding fast to him, for he is your life and length of days, that you may dwell in the land that the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.”

 

Moses had spoken explicitly to choose life and blessing with condition of trust and obedience to God’s teachings. This teaching of choosing life and blessing cannot be separated from God’s will for redemption and restoration and the condition is trust and obedience and that rule have never changed.

Scripture messages that speaks of restoration to peace with God do points to eternal life and the following scriptures from Daniel and Psalm, do speaks of resurrection and eternal life with God for those who trust and obey

 

དཱ་ནེ་ཨེལ། 12:2-3

2ཡང་ཐལ་རྡུལ་ནང་དུ་གཉིད་འདུག་པ་མང་པོ་སད་པར་འགྱུར་ཞིང་། འགའ་ཞིག་ལ་ཚེ་མཐའ་མེད་པ་འཐོབ་པར་འགྱུར་ལ། འགའ་ཞིག་ངོ་ཚས་གདུང་ཞིང་དུས་གཏན་དུ་གཞན་གྱིས་མཐོང་ཆུང་བྱེད་པར་འགྱུར་རོ། ། 3མི་བློ་གྲོས་ཅན་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་ནམ་མཁའི་འོད་ཀྱི་ཕུང་པོ་ལྟར་འོད་འཕྲོ་བ་དང་། མི་མང་པོ་དྲང་བདེན་གྱི་ཕྱོགས་སུ་འདྲེན་མཁན་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་དུས་གཏན་དུ་སྐར་ཚོགས་བཞིན་འོད་འཚེར་བར་འགྱུར།

Daniel 12:2-3

2 And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky above; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever

 

གསུང་མགུར། 16:9-10

9དེའི་ཕྱིར་ངའི་སེམས་དགའ་ཞིང་ཡིད་སྤྲོ༌ལ། །ང་ཡི་ལུས་ཀྱང་བདེ་བར་གནས་འགྱུར༌རོ།། 10ང་ཡི་རྣམ་ཤེས་གཤིན་ཡུལ་དུ་མི་བསྐྱུར། །ཁྱེད་ཀྱི་སྐྱེས་བུ་དམ་པའང་རུལ་མི༌འཇུག། 11ཁྱེད་ཀྱིས་ང་ལ་སྲོག་གི་ལམ་སྟོན༌མཛད། །ཁྱེད་ཀྱི་དྲུང་དུ་དགའ་སྤྲོ་མཐའ་ཡས༌མཆིས། །ཁྱེད་ཀྱི་གཡས་སུ་གཏན་གྱི་བདེ་བ༌ཡོད།།

Psalm 16:9-10

9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure. 10 For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption.

 

So the Jews who came to Jesus, they knew what was written in scripture, and they knew about God’s redemption and restoration, but the problem was can they believe this Jesus is the one sent of God to bring about full and complete redemption and restoration with the promise of eternal life?

 

Jesus reminded them

38རྒྱུ་མཚན་ནི་ང་རང་ནམ་མཁའི་ཞིང་ཁམས་ནས་ཡོང་དོན་ནི་རང་གི་བསམ་དོན་བཞིན་བསྒྲུབ་པའི་ཕྱིར་འོངས་པ་མིན༌ཏེ། ང་རང་མངགས་མཁན་གྱི་དགོངས་པ་བཞིན་དུ་བསྒྲུབ་པའི་ཕྱིར་ཡོང༌བ་ཡིན།

38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me.

 

Remember in John 3, Jesus addressed this with Nicodemus about the Son of Man who descended from heaven and whoever believes in this Son of Man have eternal life. And Jesus was referring to Himself as the Son of Man who descended from heaven!

Here in John 6, Jesus reiterated His relationship with the Father in heaven and His authority over life and death given by the Father.

To believe in Jesus is to trust and obey this Jesus is chosen and sent of God to teach and show us the way to peace and eternal life with God.

29ཡང་སྐྱབས་མགོན་ཡེ་ཤུས་འདི་སྐད༌དུ། དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་མངགས་པ་དེ་ལ་དད་པ་བྱས༌ན། འདི་ནི་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་དོན་སྒྲུབ་པ་ཡིན་ཞེས་གསུངས་སོ།།

30ཡང་དེ་རྣམས་ན༌རེ། འོ་ན་ཁྱེད་ཀྱིས་ངེད་རྣམས་ལ་གྲུབ་རྟགས་ཤིག་སྟོན༌དང༌། ངེད་ཅག་གིས་མཐོང་བ་དང་ཁྱེད་ལ་ཡིད་ཆེས༌བྱ། ཁྱེད་ཀྱིས་ལས་གང་ཞིག་བྱེད་པ་ཡིན༌ནམ། 31ངེད་ཅག་གི་ཕ་མེས་ཡང་མེས་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་དབེན་སྟོང་ཡུལ་ནས་མཱན་ནཱ་ཟོས་མྱོང་བ་ནི་གསུང་རབ་ཀྱི་མདོ་ལས་ཇི་སྐད༌དུ། ཁོང་གིས་དེ་རྣམས་ལ་ནམ་མཁའི་ཞིང་ཁམས་ནས་བག་ལེབ་ཁ་ཟས་སུ་གནང་ཞེས་བཀོད་པ་བཞིན་ཡིན་ཞེས་པ༌ལ། 32ཡང་སྐྱབས་མགོན་ཡེ་ཤུས་འདི་སྐད༌དུ། བདག་གིས་ཁྱོད་རྣམས་ལ་ཡང་དག་པར་བདེན་པར་སྨྲ༌སྟེ། མོ་ཤེ་ཡིས་ཁྱོད་རྣམས་ལ་ནམ་མཁའི་ཞིང་ཁམས་ནས་བག་ལེབ་གནང་བ་མ་ཡིན༌པར། བདག་གི་ཡབ་ཀྱིས་ནམ་མཁའི་ཞིང་ཁམས་ནས་བདེན་པའི་བག་ལེབ་ཁྱོད་ཅག་ལ་གནང༌བ་ཡིན། 33རྒྱུ་མཚན་ནི་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་བག་ལེབ་ནི་ནམ་མཁའི་ཞིང་ཁམས་ནས་འོངས་ཤིང་། འཇིག་རྟེན་གྱི་མི་ཀུན་ལ་མཐའ་མེད་པའི་ཚེ་སྲོག་གནང་མཁན་ཡང་ཡིན་ཞེས་གསུངས་པ་ན། 34དེ་རྣམས་ན༌རེ། ཇོ་བོ༌ལགས། དེས་ན་བག་ལེབ་དེ་རྟག་ཏུ་ངེད་ཅག་ལ་གནང་བར་མཛོད་ཅེས་ཞུས༌སོ།།

35དེ་ནས་སྐྱབས་མགོན་ཡེ་ཤུས་འདི་སྐད༌དུ། བདག་ནི་ཚེ་སྲོག་གི་བག་ལེབ་ཡིན༌ཏེ། ངའི་གམ་དུ་ཡོང་བ་རྣམས་ལ་བཀྲེས་ལྟོགས་མི་འབྱུང༌ཞིང༌། ཡང་ང་རང་ལ་དད་པ་བྱེད་མཁན་རྣམས་ནམ་ཡང་སྐོམ་མི་སྲིད།

John 6:29-35

29 Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.” 30 So they said to him, “Then what sign do you do, that we may see and believe you? What work do you perform? 31 Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’” 32 Jesus then said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” 34 They said to him, “Sir, give us this bread always.”

35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.

 

The multitude asking for a sign from Jesus does not make sense!

This was the same group of people who came seeking Jesus because they saw those miracles He. They already knew Jesus was no ordinary man and had divine power, so why would they request for another sign in response to what Jesus said about believing in Him being sent of God?

This was the same multitude who was impressed how Jesus fed thousands using five barley loaves and two fish offered, and they wanted to install Jesus as king.

Whatever arguments between this group of people and Jesus, in that context, had to do with the most important point about believing Jesus being sent of God and that has the implication of actually doing what Jesus had been teaching and preaching to them.

In previous post I explain why Jesus rejected their attempt to make Him king with the fact that if they had no intention to listen and obey what Jesus was preaching and teaching to them how could they actually be loyal to their king?

I believe this incident was recorded by John to show what were the thoughts and intentions of these people who contradicted Jesus –

 

ཨིབ་རི་པ། 4:12-13

12དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་བཀའ་ནི་སྐྱེ་སྟོབས་དང་ནུས་མཐུ་ལྡན་ཞིང་རལ་གྲི་ཁ་གཉིས་མ་ལས་ཀྱང་རྣོ་བ༌དང༌། ཐ་ན་ཡིད་དང༌སེམས། རུས་ཚིགས་དང་རུས་རྐང་བཅས་ཀྱང་དབུག་ཅིང་གཤག་ནུས༌ལ། ཡིད་ཀྱི་བསམ་ཚུལ་དང་འདོད་ཚུལ་ལའང་བརྡར་ཤ་གཅོད་ནུས་སོ།། 13བཀོད་པ་ཐམས་ཅད་ལས་ཁོང་གི་དྲུང་དུ་མི་སྣང་བ་གཅིག་ཀྱང་མེད། མ་གཞི་དངོས་པོ་ཐམས་ཅད་བདག་ཅག་དང་འབྲེལ་བ་ཡོད་པའི་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་སྤྱན་སྔར་དམར་རྗེན་དུ་མངོན་པ་ཡིན༌ནོ།།

Hebrews 4:12-13

12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. 13 And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

 

This same group of people who challenged Jesus for another sign, apparently they wanted the miracles and material blessings but not the sacrifice of their will to obey and observe what Jesus expected of them.

With this situation happening during Passover and since they mentioned of that generation leaving Egypt being fed with manna in the wilderness, they should be familiar with what was written by Moses in Deuteronomy 8 –

 

བཀའ་ལུང་། 8:3

3ཁོང་གིས་ཁྱོད་ཅག་སྙེམ་ཆུང་དུ་མཛད་དེ་བཀྲེས་ལྟོགས་མྱོང་དུ་བཅུག་ནས། ཁྱོད་ཅག་དང་ཁྱོད་ཅག་གི་མེས་པོ་རྣམས་ལ་རྒྱུས་མེད་པའི་མཱན་ནཱ་ཁྱོད་ཅག་ལ་ཁ་ཟས་སུ་གནང་སྟེ། མི་ནི་བག་ལེབ་ཁོ་ནར་བརྟེན་ནས་འཚོ་བ་མ་ཡིན་པར། དཀོན་མཆོག་ཡ་ཝཱེའི་ཞལ་ནས་བྱུང་བའི་བཀའ་ཐམས་ཅད་ལ་བརྟེན་ནས་འཚོ་བ་ཡིན་པ་ཁྱོད་རྣམས་ལ་ཤེས་སུ་འཇུག་པའོ། །

Deuteronomy 8:3

And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.

 

That generation being fed with manna, they had manna for almost 40 years!

Every day, every meal they had manna! It was a lesson in the wilderness they will not forget and they knew the reason God fed them with manna was to teach them obedience so they can enter the Promised Land!

The arguments and disagreement between this group of Jews and Jesus highlighted the key point of God’s redemption for Man – trust and obey.

The law of God exposed our sins and disobedience and we will need to face the consequences of death, forfeiture of eternal life, and the loss of peace with God.

God who created the heavens and Earth have authority over life and death and He will judge, but He can also offer grace, mercy, and redemption from condemnation with condition that we trust and obey His teachings and denounce sin and acts of sin. Therefore Jesus came preaching “repent for the kingdom of God is at hand”.

Here in John 6, this same group of people demanding for another sign, they heard what Jesus had been preaching and teaching about repentance, but will they listen, trust and obey?

26སྐྱབས་མགོན་ཡེ་ཤུས་འདི་སྐད༌དུ། བདག་གིས་ཁྱོད་རྣམས་ལ་ཡང་དག་པར་བདེན་པར་སྨྲ༌སྟེ། ཁྱོད་ཅག་གིས་ང་རང་འཚོལ་དོན་ནི་གྲུབ་རྟགས་རྣམས་མཐོང་བ་མ་ཡིན་པར་བག་ལེབ་ཟོས་ནས་ལྟོ་བ་འགྲངས་པའི་ཕྱིར༌རོ།། 27ཁྱོད་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་མི་རྟག་པའི་ཁ་ཟས་ཀྱི་དོན་དུ་འབད་པ་མི་བྱེད༌པར། མཐའ་མེད་པའི་ཚེ་སྲོག་འཐོབ་པའི་བར་དུ་གནས་པའི་ཁ་ཟས་དེའི་དོན་དུ་བརྩོན་པར༌གྱིས། མིའི་བུ་ཡིས་ཁྱོད་རྣམས་ལ་ཁ་ཟས་དེ་གནང་ངེས་ཡིན། མིའི་བུ་ལ་ཡབ་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ཕྱག་རྒྱ་བཏབ་ཡོད་པ་ཡིན་ཞེས་གསུངས་སོ།། 28ཡང་མི་ཚོགས་ན༌རེ། ངེད་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་ལས་གང་ཞིག་བྱས་ན་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་དོན་སྒྲུབ་པ་ཡིན་ནམ་ཞེས་ཞུས་པ༌ལ། 29ཡང་སྐྱབས་མགོན་ཡེ་ཤུས་འདི་སྐད༌དུ། དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་མངགས་པ་དེ་ལ་དད་པ་བྱས༌ན། འདི་ནི་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་དོན་སྒྲུབ་པ་ཡིན་ཞེས་གསུངས་སོ།།

John 6:26-29

26 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you are seeking me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves. 27 Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set his seal.” 28 Then they said to him, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” 29 Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.”

 

Continuing from previous post, the multitude that had been fed by Jesus came again to Jesus and from here we read very difficult conversations between Jesus and the multitude.

Jesus was concern for their welfare therefore fed them, but more than that He was concern about their eternal redemption from sin and death, therefore He speaks of “food that endures to eternal life“.

So what was the connection between work and food?

We need to look at historical context try our best effort to consider how people live and survive at that time and region. And what was the circumstance that affects them most in their decision making about life choices.

Working to put food on the table has been an age-old practice especially for family men, and it is about family survival. Consider this practice from a bigger perspective, that’s how societies and communities survive and thrive.

At that time of Christ the demands and expectations of family men to put food on the table was on higher priority due to war and conflicts.

The post-exilic Jews who returned to Jerusalem after leaving Babylon were living in a land not their own. And their next generations who continue to live in Jerusalem till the time of John the Baptist went through series of wars and conflicts.

During the time of John the Baptist there were reasons why we often read of the poor and needy Jesus was reaching out to, because they were everywhere! The people in the land were struggling to recover from the effects of war and getting ready for another one.

Jewish diaspora from around Jerusalem and far away who visit the Temple for the three appointed feast of the Lord, they were very well aware of war and conflicts in that region.

People do live with daily anxieties and uncertainties of their future, and in such time and circumstances daily survival takes priority. The multitude who came seeking Jesus for help reflected the very difficult circumstances they were living in.

Jesus was known to show great compassion for the poor and needy and while He took care of the need for food, He teaches them to think and look further to the future for eternal life and that was something difficult for them to understand.

Important lessons for us to learn – when people struggles with daily needs it is difficult to think of the future, but for the sake of our future and the hope of eternal life in Christ we must do what is necessary for the better future in the kingdom of God.

1སྡིག་སྤྱོད་མི་ཡི་ཇུས་བཞིན་མི་འགྲུལ༌ཞིང༌། །སྡིག་ཅན་དག་གི་ལམ་ནང་མི་འགྲེང༌བར། །འཕྱ་མཁན་གྲལ་དུ་མི་འདུག་པ་ནི༌བདེ།། 2ཡ་ཝཱེའི་བཀའ་ཁྲིམས་ལ་ནི་ཡི་རང༌ཞིང༌། །ཉིན་མཚན་ཀུན་ཏུ་བཀའ་ཁྲིམས་སྒོམ་མཁན༌ནི།། 3ཆུ་རྒྱུན་འགྲམ་དུ་བཙུགས་པའི་ལྗོན་ཤིང༌བཞིན། །དུས་དང་མཐུན་པར་འབྲས་བུ་བསྐྱེད་བྱེད༌ཅིང༌། །ལོ་མ་དག་ཀྱང་ནམ་ཡང་མི་རྙིད༌ལ། །མི་དེས་ཅི་བྱེད་དོན་ཀུན་འགྲུབ་པར༌འགྱུར།། 4འོན་ཀྱང་སྡིག་སྤྱོད་མི་ནི་ཆ་མི༌མཚུངས། །དེ་ནི་རླུང་གིས་ཁྱེར་བའི་ཕུབ་མ༌འདྲ།། 5ཁྲིམས་ཐག་གཅོད་དུས་སྡིག་སྤྱོད་ཚུགས་མི༌ཐུབ། །དྲང་པོའི་ཚོགས་ནང་སྡིག་ཅན་དེ་བཞིན༌ཡིན།། 6ཡ་ཝཱེས་དྲང་པོ་རྣམས་ཀྱི་ལམ་གཟིགས༌ཤིང༌། །སྡིག་སྤྱོད་དག་གི་ལམ་ནི་འཇིག་པར༌འགྱུར།།

Psalm 1

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; 2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.

3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.

4 The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away.

5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; 6 for the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.

 

The message of Psalm 1 does correspond with what Jesus teaches about sowing and reaping in Matthew 13.

Therefore Jesus spoke to them about believing in Him and that means to act upon what He have been teaching and preaching to them about trust and obedience to the ways of God.

 

29ཡང་སྐྱབས་མགོན་ཡེ་ཤུས་འདི་སྐད༌དུ། དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་མངགས་པ་དེ་ལ་དད་པ་བྱས༌ན། འདི་ནི་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་དོན་སྒྲུབ་པ་ཡིན་ཞེས་གསུངས་སོ།།

29 Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.”
