9གཟི་འོད་དེ་ཉིད་འོད་ཟེར་དངོས་མ༌སྟེ།།
འཇིག་རྟེན་ཡོངས་སུ་འཕྲོས་ནས་མི་ཀུན༌གསལ།།
10དེ་ཡང་ཁོང་ཉིད་འཇིག་རྟེན་འདིར་བཞུགས༌ཤིང༌།།
ཁོང་ཉིད་བརྒྱུད་ནས་འཇིག་རྟེན་བསྐྲུན་ན༌ཡང༌།།
འཇིག་རྟེན་མི་ཡིས་ཁོང་ཉིད་ཤེས་མ༌གྱུར།།
11ཁོང་ནི་རང་ཡུལ་ཕྱོགས་སུ་ཕེབས་ན༌ཡང༌།།
རང་ཡུལ་མི་ཡིས་ཁོང་ལ་བསུ་བ༌མེད།།
12ཁོང་ཉིད་བསུ་ཞིང་ཁོང་གི་མཚན་ལ་ནི།།
དད་པའི་མི་རྣམས་དཀོན་མཆོག་བུ་ཕྲུག་ལ༎
འགྱུར་བར་མཛད་པའི་དབང་ཡང་ཁོང་གིས༌གནང༌།།
13དད་ལྡན་སྐྱེ་བོ་སོ་སོ་དེ་རྣམས༌ནི།།
མི་ཡི་ཁྲག་ལས་སྐྱེས་པ་མ་ཡིན༌ལ།།
མི་ཡི་འདོད་ཆགས་དབང་གིས་མ་སྐྱེས༌ཤིང༌།།
མི་ཡི་འདོད་མོས་བཞིན་དུ་སྐྱེས་པའང༌མིན།།
དེ་ནི་དཀོན་མཆོག་ཉིད་ལས་སྐྱེས་པ་ལགས།།
John 1:9-13
9 The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. 11 He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. 12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
John was referring to Jesus “the true light”.
John wrote a shocking message “He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him.”
What was that supposed to mean?
The nation of Israel was established for the sake of the Messiah, and from the teachings of Moses through the prophets the nation of Israel was told repeatedly to be prepared for the Messiah. But how could they “not receive him”?
The Jew did expect the Messiah but the national of Israel at that time of the Gospel of John rejected Jesus as the Messiah. Means they were expecting someone else or another Messiah!
But there were Jews, individuals, who did believe in Jesus as the Messiah, so how do we understand anything about this?
From the records of the gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, those religious leaders who antagonized Jesus were mainly from the Pharisees, Sadducees, and Rabbis, most of whom were representative from the Sanhedrin. Added to the list were the fractions of Zealots who were ready to do armed insurgency against Rome to liberate Israel. It is not surprising these groups rejected Jesus’ message and call for repentance!
From the time of Babylon Exile after the destruction of the First Temple, Judeans who were hoping to return to Jerusalem and to rebuild the Temple started their traditions of gathering together and from then we could trace the history of the synagogue system and rabbinic authority. And by the time of Jesus, Rabbinic Judaism had projected a national concept of salvation. Means to say the Messiah chosen of God is to save Israel collectively as a nation, and not the individuals, and where did they get that idea from?
Interestingly as we would read through the whole of the Gospel of John, we could understand why individuals who believed in Jesus got ostracized and thrown out of the synagogue. The purpose and intention of such rejection was to enforce and identify the person’s rejection of God’s salvation as what the religious system of the Sanhedrin would assume.
But we have the good news from John –
ཡོ་ཧ་ནན། 1:12-13
12ཁོང་ཉིད་བསུ་ཞིང་ཁོང་གི་མཚན་ལ་ནི།།
དད་པའི་མི་རྣམས་དཀོན་མཆོག་བུ་ཕྲུག་ལ༎
འགྱུར་བར་མཛད་པའི་དབང་ཡང་ཁོང་གིས༌གནང༌།།
13དད་ལྡན་སྐྱེ་བོ་སོ་སོ་དེ་རྣམས༌ནི།།
མི་ཡི་ཁྲག་ལས་སྐྱེས་པ་མ་ཡིན༌ལ།།
མི་ཡི་འདོད་ཆགས་དབང་གིས་མ་སྐྱེས༌ཤིང༌།།
མི་ཡི་འདོད་མོས་བཞིན་དུ་སྐྱེས་པའང༌མིན།།
དེ་ནི་དཀོན་མཆོག་ཉིད་ལས་སྐྱེས་པ་ལགས།།
John 1:12-13
12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
What John wrote here is powerful and heretical to Rabbinic Judaism.
The same reason Paul was rejected as a heretic and aggressively persecuted by the Sanhedrin.
The message of John means to say that even if a person was born not of the Jewish race that person is entitled to receive salvation from God through Jesus!
That is why when Gentiles believed in Jesus, all hell breaks loose among those who insisted on mandatory conversion to Judaism as prerequisite for salvation
མཛད་འཕྲིན། 10:34-48
34དེ་ནས་པེ་ཏྲོས་འདི་སྐད༌དུ། དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ཕྱོགས་རིས་མི་མཛད་པ་ངས་དངོས་གནས་རྟོགས༌ཤིང་། 35མ་གཞི་མི་རིགས་སོ་སོའི་ཁྲོད་དུ་ཁོང་ལ་དད་གུས་བྱེད་པ་དང་བདེན་དོན་སྒྲུབ་མཁན་རྣམས་ལ་ཁོང་ཐུགས་མཉེས༌པ་ཡིན་ནོ།། 36དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ཐམས་ཅད་ཀྱི་གཙོ་བོ་སྟེ་ཡེ་ཤུ་མཱ་ཤི་ཀ་བརྒྱུད་ནས་ཞི་བདེའི་འཕྲིན་བཟང་བསྒྲགས་ཤིང་བཀའ་དེ་ཡེས་ར་ཨེལ་གྱི་བུ་རྒྱུད་ལ་གནང༌། 37ཡང་ཡོ་ཧ་ནན་གྱིས་ཁྲུས་གསོལ་གྱི་ཆོས་བསྒྲགས་པའི་རྗེས༌སུ། ག་ལིལ་ཡུལ་ནས་ཡ་ཧུ་དཱའི་ཡུལ་ཀུན་ཏུ་ཁྱབ་པའི་དོན་ཆེན་དང་། 38ནཱ་ཙ་རེལ་གྱི་ཡེ་ཤུ་ལ་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་དམ་པའི་ཐུགས་ཉིད་དང་ནུས་མཐུས་ཅི་ལྟར་བྱུགས་པར་མཛད་པ་དེ་ནི་ཁྱོད་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་ཤེས་ཏེ། དཀོན་མཆོག་ནི་སྐྱབས་མགོན་ཡེ་ཤུ་དང་ལྷན་དུ་བཞུགས༌པས། ཁོང་ཉིད་ཡུལ་ཕྱོགས་ཀུན་ཏུ་ཕེབས་ནས་དོན་བཟང་མཛད༌ཅིང༌། བདུད་ཀྱི་དབང་འོག་ཏུ་མནན་པའི་མི་ཐམས་ཅད་ཀྱང་གསོས་པའོ།། 39ངེད་རྣམས་ནི་ཡེ་ཤུ་ཁོང་གིས་ཡ་ཧུ་དཱ་པའི་ཡུལ་དང་ཡེ་རུ་སཱ་ལེམ་དུ་མཛད་པའི་དོན་འདི་ཐམས་ཅད་ལ་བདེན་དཔང་བྱེད་མཁན་ཡིན། མི་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་ཁོང་ཉིད་སྡོང་པོའི་སྟེང་དུ་བརྡབས་ནས་བཀྲོངས༌ཤིང༌། 40ཉིན་གསུམ་པར་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ཁོང་ཉིད་སླར་གསོན་པར་མཛད་དེ་ཁོང་གི་སྐུ་གཟུགས་མངོན་སུམ་དུ་བསྟན་པའོ།། 41དེ་ནི་མི་ཐམས་ཅད་ལ་མངོན་སུམ་དུ་བསྟན་པ་མ་ཡིན༌པར། དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་སྔ་མོ་ནས་དཔང་པོ་རུ་བདམས་པའི་མི༌སྟེ། ཁོང་ཉིད་གྲོངས་པ་ནས་སླར་གསོན་རྗེས་ཁོང་དང་ལྷན་དུ་བཟའ་བཏུང་སྤྱད་པ་ངེད་རྣམས་ལ་མངོན་སུམ་དུ་བསྟན༌པ་ཡིན། 42ཁོང་གིས་གནང་བའི་བཀའ་ལྟར་ངེད་ཅག་གིས་མི་རྣམས་ལ་འཕྲིན་བཟང་བསྒྲག་པ་དང་། ཁོང་ནི་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ཤི་གསོན་གཉིས་ལ་ལེགས་ཉེས་ཀྱི་ཁྲིམས་ཐག་གཅོད་པའི་གཙོ་བོར་བསྐོས་པ་ལ་བདེན་དཔང་བྱེད་དགོས༌པ་ཡིན། 43ལུང་སྟོན་པ་ཀུན་གྱིས་སྐྱབས་མགོན་ཡེ་ཤུར་དད་པ་བྱེད་མཁན་ཐམས་ཅད་ལ་ཁོང་གི་མཚན་ལ་བརྟེན་ནས་སྡིག་པ་བསལ་ངེས་པར་བདེན་དཔང་མཛད་པ་ཡིན་ཞེས་གསུངས་ཤིང་། 44པེ་ཏྲོས་དེ་ལྟར་གསུང་བཞིན་པའི་དུས༌སུ། དམ་པའི་ཐུགས་ཉིད་ནི་བཀའ་དེར་ཉན་པའི་མི་ཐམས་ཅད་ཀྱི་སྟེང་དུ་བབས༌སོ།། 45པེ་ཏྲོ་དང་མཉམ་དུ་ཡོང་བའི་མཚན་སྐྱི་བཅད་པའི་དད་ལྡན་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་ཕྱི་ཕྱོགས་པ་རྣམས་ལའང་དམ་པའི་ཐུགས་ཉིད་ཀྱི་གནང་སྦྱིན་ཐོབ་པ་མཐོང་ནས་ངོ་མཚར་སྐྱེས། 46རྒྱུ་མཚན་ནི་མི་དེ་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་སྐད་གཞན་སྨྲ་བ་དང་དཀོན་མཆོག་ལ་བསྟོད་ཅིང་བསྔགས་པའང་ཐོས་པས༌སོ། །དེ་ནས་པེ་ཏྲོས་འདི་སྐད་དུ། 47མི་འདི་རྣམས་ནི་ངེད་ཅག་དང་མཚུངས་པར་དམ་པའི་ཐུགས་ཉིད་ཐོབ་པ་ཡིན༌པས། ཁོ་རྣམས་ལ་ཆུས་ཁྲུས་གསོལ་བྱེད་པ་སུ་ཞིག་གིས་འགོག་ནུས་སམ་ཞེས་གསུངས་པ༌དང༌། 48ཡེ་ཤུ་མཱ་ཤི་ཀའི་མཚན་ལ་བརྟེན་ནས་ཁོ་རྣམས་ལ་ཁྲུས་གསོལ་བྱེད་པའི་བཀའ་གནང༌ཞིང་། དེ་ནས་ཁོ་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་པེ་ཏྲོ་གནས་དེར་ཉིན་འགར་བཞུགས་པར་ཞུས༌སོ།།
མཛད་འཕྲིན། 11:1-3
1དེ་ཡང་སྐུ་ཚབ་པ་དང་ཡ་ཧུ་དཱའི་ཡུལ་དུ་ཡོད་པའི་སྤུན་ཟླ་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་ཕྱི་ཕྱོགས་པ་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་ཀྱང་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་བཀའ་དང་དུ་བླངས་པ་ཐོས༌ཤིང༌། 2སྐུ་ཚབ་པ་པེ་ཏྲོ་ཡར་ཡེ་རུ་སཱ་ལེམ་དུ་སླེབས་པ་དང་མཚན་སྐྱི་བཅད་པའི་དད་ལྡན་འགའ་ཞིག་ན༌རེ། 3ཁྱོད་རང་ཕྱི་ཕྱོགས་པའི་ཁྱིམ་དུ་སོང་བ་དང་དེ་དག་དང་མཉམ་དུ་ཁ་ཟས་ལ་རོལ་བ་རེད་ཅེས་རྩོད་པ་བྱས་སོ།།
Acts 10:34-48
34 So Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality, 35 but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him. 36 As for the word that he sent to Israel, preaching good news of peace through Jesus Christ (he is Lord of all), 37 you yourselves know what happened throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism that John proclaimed: 38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. 39 And we are witnesses of all that he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a tree, 40 but God raised him on the third day and made him to appear, 41 not to all the people but to us who had been chosen by God as witnesses, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. 42 And he commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one appointed by God to be judge of the living and the dead. 43 To him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”
44 While Peter was still saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell on all who heard the word. 45 And the believers from among the circumcised who had come with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out even on the Gentiles. 46 For they were hearing them speaking in tongues and extolling God. Then Peter declared, 47 “Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to remain for some days.
Acts 11:1-3
1 Now the apostles and the brothers who were throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God. 2 So when Peter went up to Jerusalem, the circumcision party criticized him, saying, 3 “You went to uncircumcised men and ate with them.”
“the circumcision party” refer to a certain group of Jews within the congregation who still hold on to and insisted on the policy of race and nationality conversation to Judaism as prerequisite to receive salvation from the Messiah.
So here we see God demonstrated His will and power to save any who will believe in Jesus, amen!
The message of John was to highlight and emphasis the true saving grace of God for any who believe in the name of Jesus and will follow through what Jesus said and taught!
Through Jesus we will receive the full promise and blessing of God for eternal life!
