ཡོ་ཧ་ནན། 6:38-46

38རྒྱུ་མཚན་ནི་ང་རང་ནམ་མཁའི་ཞིང་ཁམས་ནས་ཡོང་དོན་ནི་རང་གི་བསམ་དོན་བཞིན་བསྒྲུབ་པའི་ཕྱིར་འོངས་པ་མིན༌ཏེ། ང་རང་མངགས་མཁན་གྱི་དགོངས་པ་བཞིན་དུ་བསྒྲུབ་པའི་ཕྱིར་ཡོང༌བ་ཡིན། 39ང་རང་མངགས་མཁན་ཁོང་གི་དགོངས་པ་ནི་ཁོང་གིས་བདག་ལ་གནང་བ་ཐམས་ཅད་ལས་བདག་གིས་གཅིག་ཀྱང་མི་སྟོར༌བར། མཐའ་མའི་ཉིན་མོ་ལ་དེ་རྣམས་སླར་གསོན་དུ་འཇུག་པ་དེ་ཡིན་ནོ།། 40རྒྱུ་མཚན་ནི་སྲས་དེ་ཉིད་མཇལ་ནས་དད་པ་བྱེད་མཁན་ཐམས་ཅད་ལ་མཐའ་མེད་པའི་ཚེ་སྲོག་འཐོབ་པ༌དང༌། མཐའ་མའི་ཉིན་མོར་ཡང་བདག་གིས་དེ་རྣམས་སླར་གསོན་དུ་འཇུག་དགོས་པ་ནི་བདག་གི་ཡབ་ཀྱི་དགོངས་པའང་ཡིན་ཞེས་གསུངས༌སོ།།

41དེ་ཡང་སྐྱབས་མགོན་ཡེ་ཤུས་ང་རང་ནི་ནམ་མཁའི་ཞིང་ཁམས་ནས་འོངས་པའི་བག་ལེབ་ཡིན་ཞེས་གསུངས་པ་དེར་ཡ་ཧུ་དཱ་པ་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་ལྐོག་ནས་གླེང༌སྟེ་ན་རེ། 42ཁོ་རང་ནི་ཡོ་སེབ་ཀྱི་བུ་ཡེ་ཤུ་མ་ཡིན༌ནམ། ཁོའི་ཕ་མ་གཉིས་བདག་ཅག་གིས་ངོ་ཤེས་པ་མ་ཡིན༌ནམ། ད་ལྟ་ཁོས་ང་རང་ནི་ནམ་མཁའི་ཞིང་ཁམས་ནས་འོངས་པ་ཡིན་ཞེས་ཟེར་དོན་ཅི་ཡིན་ནམ་ཞེས་སྨྲས་སོ།། 43དེ་ནས་སྐྱབས་མགོན་ཡེ་ཤུས་འདི་སྐད༌དུ། ཁྱོད་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་ལྐོག་ནས་གཏམ་དེ་དག་གླེང་བར་མི༌བྱའོ།། 44གལ་ཏེ་ང་རང་མངགས་མཁན་ཡབ་ཀྱིས་སུ་ཞིག་བདག་གི་ཕྱོགས་སུ་དྲངས་པ་མིན༌ན། མི་སུ་ཡང་བདག་གི་གམ་དུ་ཡོང་མི་ནུས། བདག་གིས་མཐའ་མའི་ཉིན་མོར་མི་དེ་སླར་གསོན་དུ་འཇུག༌པ་ཡིན། 45ལུང་སྟོན་པའི་མདོ་ལས་ཇི་སྐད༌དུ། དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་མི་དེ་ཐམས་ཅད་ལ་ཆོས་གསུང་བར་འགྱུར་ཞེས་བཀོད་ཡོད། ཡབ་ཀྱི་བཀའ་རྣམས་ཐོས་ཤིང་སྦྱངས་པ་ཐམས་ཅད་བདག་གི་དྲུང་དུ་ཡོང༌ངོ་།། 46འོན་ཀྱང་མི་སུ་ཞིག་གིས་ཡབ་མཐོང་མྱོང་བ་མིན༌ཏེ། དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་དྲུང་ནས་ཡོང་མཁན་ལས་གཞན་སུས་ཀྱང་ཁོང་ཉིད་མཐོང་བ་མེད།

John 6:38-46

38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day. 40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”

41 So the Jews grumbled about him, because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.” 42 They said, “Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How does he now say, ‘I have come down from heaven’?” 43 Jesus answered them, “Do not grumble among yourselves. 44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day. 45 It is written in the Prophets, ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me— 46 not that anyone has seen the Father except he who is from God; he has seen the Father.

 

Continuing from previous post, this group of Jews who came seeking Jesus became more antagonistic against Him, and the arguments between them may appear complicated and frustrating.

If we would bear in mind that this is the same group of Jews who came seeking Jesus because they had seen His miraculous works and wanted to install Him as king of Israel. It was just yesterday when Jesus fed these hungry folks, they were full and satisfied, and they think this Jesus should be their king.

Now with this sudden change of attitude and projection of hostility towards Jesus, it points to the possibility they were simply making more excuses to reject what Jesus was teaching them. And it simply means they wanted Jesus for the material blessing but not the teaching and preaching because they just did not want to do what Jesus expected them to do.

And here Jesus made a very interesting remark –

 

45ལུང་སྟོན་པའི་མདོ་ལས་ཇི་སྐད༌དུ། དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་མི་དེ་ཐམས་ཅད་ལ་ཆོས་གསུང་བར་འགྱུར་ཞེས་བཀོད་ཡོད། ཡབ་ཀྱི་བཀའ་རྣམས་ཐོས་ཤིང་སྦྱངས་པ་ཐམས་ཅད་བདག་གི་དྲུང་དུ་ཡོང༌ངོ་།།

45 It is written in the Prophets, ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me—

 

What Jesus said here have clear connection with what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah and Jeremiah

 

ཡེ་ཤ་ཡཱ། 54:13

ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་བུ་རྒྱུད་ཐམས་ཅད་ལ་དཀོན་མཆོག་ཡ་ཝཱེའི་བསླབ་བྱ་འཐོབ་ཅིང་། ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་བུ་ཕྲུག་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་ཞི་བདེ་ལོངས་སུ་སྤྱོད་པར་འགྱུར།

Isaiah 54:13

All your children shall be taught by the LORD, and great shall be the peace of your children.

 

ཡེ་རེམ་ཡཱ། 31:33-34

33དུས་དེའི་རྗེས་སུ་བདག་གིས་ཡེས་ར་ཨེལ་གྱི་ཁྱིམ་རྒྱུད་རྣམས་ལ་ཞལ་ཆད་གསར་པ་ཞིག་གནང་བར་བྱ་ཞེས་དཀོན་མཆོག་ཡ་ཝཱེས་གསུངས་ཏེ། དེ་ནི་ངས་རང་གི་བཀའ་ཁྲིམས་དེ་དག་གི་ཡིད་ལ་འཇོག་ཅིང་དེ་དག་གི་སེམས་ནང་དུ་བརྐོ་བར་བྱ། བདག་ནི་དེ་དག་གི་དཀོན་མཆོག་དང་དེ་དག་བདག་གི་འབངས་མི་རུ་འགྱུར་བ་དང་། 34ཡང་མི་མཆོག་དམན་ཀུན་གྱིས་བདག་ངོ་ཤེས་པར་འགྱུར་ལ། ངས་དེ་དག་གི་སྡིག་པ་སེལ་ཞིང་ཕྱིན་ཆད་དེ་དག་གི་སྡིག་ཉེས་མི་དྲན་པའི་རྐྱེན་གྱིས། སུས་ཀྱང་རང་གི་ཁྱིམ་མཚེས་དང་སྤུན་ལ་དཀོན་མཆོག་ཡ་ཝཱེ་ངོ་ཤེས་པར་འོས་ཞེས་སྨྲ་ཞིང་བསླབ་པར་མི་འགྱུར་རོ་ཞེས་དཀོན་མཆོག་ཡ་ཝཱེས་གསུངས་སོ།

Jeremiah 31:33-34

33 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 34 And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”

 

What Jesus said in John 6, compared to Isaiah and Jeremiah, have a common theme

 

Trust and Obedience

 

The words of God distinguished those who trust and obey and those who refused to

For those who listen, trust and obey, they will learn more and they will continue to be taught by God.

Jesus was teaching them to observe God’s will to walk the path of redemption and eternal life and the condition was to recognize that He – Jesus – was sent of God.

35དེ་ནས་སྐྱབས་མགོན་ཡེ་ཤུས་འདི་སྐད༌དུ། བདག་ནི་ཚེ་སྲོག་གི་བག་ལེབ་ཡིན༌ཏེ། ངའི་གམ་དུ་ཡོང་བ་རྣམས་ལ་བཀྲེས་ལྟོགས་མི་འབྱུང༌ཞིང༌། ཡང་ང་རང་ལ་དད་པ་བྱེད་མཁན་རྣམས་ནམ་ཡང་སྐོམ་མི་སྲིད། 36འོན་ཀྱང་བདག་གིས་སྨྲས་པ་བཞིན་ཁྱོད་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་ང་རང་མཐོང་ནའང་དད་པ་མི་བྱེད་དོ།། 37དེ་ཡང་ཡབ་ཀྱིས་ང་རང་ལ་བསྩལ་བའི་མི་ཐམས་ཅད་བདག་གི་དྲུང་དུ་ཡོང་ངེས༌ཤིང༌། བདག་གི་གམ་དུ་ཡོང་བའི་མི་སུ་ཡིན་ཡང་བདག་གིས་ནམ་ཡང་འདོར་མི་སྲིད་དོ།། 38རྒྱུ་མཚན་ནི་ང་རང་ནམ་མཁའི་ཞིང་ཁམས་ནས་ཡོང་དོན་ནི་རང་གི་བསམ་དོན་བཞིན་བསྒྲུབ་པའི་ཕྱིར་འོངས་པ་མིན༌ཏེ། ང་རང་མངགས་མཁན་གྱི་དགོངས་པ་བཞིན་དུ་བསྒྲུབ་པའི་ཕྱིར་ཡོང༌བ་ཡིན། 39ང་རང་མངགས་མཁན་ཁོང་གི་དགོངས་པ་ནི་ཁོང་གིས་བདག་ལ་གནང་བ་ཐམས་ཅད་ལས་བདག་གིས་གཅིག་ཀྱང་མི་སྟོར༌བར། མཐའ་མའི་ཉིན་མོ་ལ་དེ་རྣམས་སླར་གསོན་དུ་འཇུག་པ་དེ་ཡིན་ནོ།། 40རྒྱུ་མཚན་ནི་སྲས་དེ་ཉིད་མཇལ་ནས་དད་པ་བྱེད་མཁན་ཐམས་ཅད་ལ་མཐའ་མེད་པའི་ཚེ་སྲོག་འཐོབ་པ༌དང༌། མཐའ་མའི་ཉིན་མོར་ཡང་བདག་གིས་དེ་རྣམས་སླར་གསོན་དུ་འཇུག་དགོས་པ་ནི་བདག་གི་ཡབ་ཀྱི་དགོངས་པའང་ཡིན་ཞེས་གསུངས༌སོ།།

John 6:35-40

35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. 36 But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe. 37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out. 38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day. 40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”

 

From here Jesus address His opponents straight to the point – they just refused to believe He is chosen and approved of God to teach and show them the way of redemption and restoration to peace and eternal life with God.

Since times of old, God’s messages to His chosen people like Abraham and Moses do speaks of redemption from condemnation of sin and judgement. And the idea of redemption do points to restoration to everlasting life with God which Adam and Eve forfeited after they committed sin against God’s word.

Consider our human history, we must acknowledge and believe we human were created by God and Adam and Eve being the first human couple was granted access to the Tree of Life which means they could live forever.

But Adam and Eve did not live forever, what happened?

As according to scripture truth, Adam and Eve fell into sin through acts of disobedience – they did what they were told not to do. Sin is in our human acts of disobedience against God’s words.

We also know from the records of Noah and the Flood, how God condemn the world of sin and saved Noah who trusted and obey. And during the time of Moses, how God delivered the children of Israel from Egypt, again the idea of God’s redemption for Man based on trust and obedience is highlighted –

 

བཀའ་ལུང་། 30:19-20

19ངས་དེ་རིང་གནམ་ས་གཉིས་དཔང་དུ་བཙུགས་ཏེ་ཁྱོད་རྣམས་ཀྱི་མདུན་དུ་ཚེ་སྲོག་དང་འཆི་བ། བྱིན་རླབས་དང་དམོད་མོ་བཤམས་ཡོད། དེ་བས་ཁྱོད་རྣམས་དང་ཁྱོད་ཅག་གི་བུ་རྒྱུད་ཀྱི་སྲོག་འཚོ་བའི་ཆེད་དུ་ཚེ་སྲོག་འདེམས་དགོས། 20ཁྱོད་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་ཁྱོད་ཅག་གི་དཀོན་མཆོག་ཡ་ཝཱེ་ལ་གཅེས་ཤིང་ཁོང་གི་གསུང་སྐད་ལ་མཉན་ནས་ཁོང་ལ་དམ་པོར་བརྟེན་དགོས། ཅི་ལ་ཞེ་ན། ཁོང་ནི་ཁྱོད་ཅག་གི་ཚེ་སྲོག་ཡིན་ལ་ཁོང་གིས་ཁྱོད་ཅག་ཚེ་ཐག་རིང་བར་མཛད་པའོ། །དེ་ལྟར་བྱས་ན་དཀོན་མཆོག་ཡ་ཝཱེས་ཁྱོད་རྣམས་ཀྱི་ཕ་མེས་ཨབ་ར་ཧམ་དང་ཨི་སཱག ཡ་ཀོབ་བཅས་ལ་གནང་བར་མནའ་བཞེས་པའི་ཡུལ་དུ་ཁྱོད་ཅག་གནས་ཐུབ་པ་ཡིན་ཞེས་བཀའ་བསྩལ་ཏོ། །

Deuteronomy 30:19-20

19 I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live, 20 loving the Lord your God, obeying his voice and holding fast to him, for he is your life and length of days, that you may dwell in the land that the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.”

 

Moses had spoken explicitly to choose life and blessing with condition of trust and obedience to God’s teachings. This teaching of choosing life and blessing cannot be separated from God’s will for redemption and restoration and the condition is trust and obedience and that rule have never changed.

Scripture messages that speaks of restoration to peace with God do points to eternal life and the following scriptures from Daniel and Psalm, do speaks of resurrection and eternal life with God for those who trust and obey

 

དཱ་ནེ་ཨེལ། 12:2-3

2ཡང་ཐལ་རྡུལ་ནང་དུ་གཉིད་འདུག་པ་མང་པོ་སད་པར་འགྱུར་ཞིང་། འགའ་ཞིག་ལ་ཚེ་མཐའ་མེད་པ་འཐོབ་པར་འགྱུར་ལ། འགའ་ཞིག་ངོ་ཚས་གདུང་ཞིང་དུས་གཏན་དུ་གཞན་གྱིས་མཐོང་ཆུང་བྱེད་པར་འགྱུར་རོ། ། 3མི་བློ་གྲོས་ཅན་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་ནམ་མཁའི་འོད་ཀྱི་ཕུང་པོ་ལྟར་འོད་འཕྲོ་བ་དང་། མི་མང་པོ་དྲང་བདེན་གྱི་ཕྱོགས་སུ་འདྲེན་མཁན་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་དུས་གཏན་དུ་སྐར་ཚོགས་བཞིན་འོད་འཚེར་བར་འགྱུར།

Daniel 12:2-3

2 And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky above; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever

 

གསུང་མགུར། 16:9-10

9དེའི་ཕྱིར་ངའི་སེམས་དགའ་ཞིང་ཡིད་སྤྲོ༌ལ། །ང་ཡི་ལུས་ཀྱང་བདེ་བར་གནས་འགྱུར༌རོ།། 10ང་ཡི་རྣམ་ཤེས་གཤིན་ཡུལ་དུ་མི་བསྐྱུར། །ཁྱེད་ཀྱི་སྐྱེས་བུ་དམ་པའང་རུལ་མི༌འཇུག། 11ཁྱེད་ཀྱིས་ང་ལ་སྲོག་གི་ལམ་སྟོན༌མཛད། །ཁྱེད་ཀྱི་དྲུང་དུ་དགའ་སྤྲོ་མཐའ་ཡས༌མཆིས། །ཁྱེད་ཀྱི་གཡས་སུ་གཏན་གྱི་བདེ་བ༌ཡོད།།

Psalm 16:9-10

9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure. 10 For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption.

 

So the Jews who came to Jesus, they knew what was written in scripture, and they knew about God’s redemption and restoration, but the problem was can they believe this Jesus is the one sent of God to bring about full and complete redemption and restoration with the promise of eternal life?

 

Jesus reminded them

38རྒྱུ་མཚན་ནི་ང་རང་ནམ་མཁའི་ཞིང་ཁམས་ནས་ཡོང་དོན་ནི་རང་གི་བསམ་དོན་བཞིན་བསྒྲུབ་པའི་ཕྱིར་འོངས་པ་མིན༌ཏེ། ང་རང་མངགས་མཁན་གྱི་དགོངས་པ་བཞིན་དུ་བསྒྲུབ་པའི་ཕྱིར་ཡོང༌བ་ཡིན།

38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me.

 

Remember in John 3, Jesus addressed this with Nicodemus about the Son of Man who descended from heaven and whoever believes in this Son of Man have eternal life. And Jesus was referring to Himself as the Son of Man who descended from heaven!

Here in John 6, Jesus reiterated His relationship with the Father in heaven and His authority over life and death given by the Father.

To believe in Jesus is to trust and obey this Jesus is chosen and sent of God to teach and show us the way to peace and eternal life with God.
