1  ལོ་བདུན་རེའི་ལོ་མཇུག་ཏུ་ཁྱོད་ཚོས་མི་གཞན་གྱི་བུ་ལོན་རྣམས་སེལ་དགོས། 2  དེ་ལྟར་བྱེད་དགོས། སུ་ཞིག་གིས་ཨིསི་རཱཨེལ་པ་ནང་ཁོངས་ལ་བུ་ལོན་སྤྲད་ཡོད་པ་ཡིན་ན། དེས་བུ་ལོན་དེ་སེལ་དགོས། བུ་ལོན་གྱི་དངུལ་དེ་ཚུར་བསྡུ་ཐབས་མ་བྱེད་ཅིག གང་ལགས་ཟེར་ན། གཙོ་བོ་དཀོན་མཆོག་རང་ཉིད་ཀྱིས་ཁོ་ཚོའི་བུ་ལོན་སེལ་ཡོད་ཞེས་ཁྱབ་བསྒྲགས་གནང་ཟིན་ནོ། 3  ཕྱི་རྒྱལ་བ་ཞིག་གིས་ལེན་པའི་བུ་ལོན་དེ་འདེད་ཆོག་མོད། འོན་ཀྱང་ཁྱོད་ཚོའི་རང་རིགས་གཅིག་པའི་མི་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་ལེན་པའི་བུ་ལོན་དེ་འདེད་མི་ཆོག་གོ

4  གཙོ་བོ་དཀོན་མཆོག་ཁྱོད་ཚོའི་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ཁྱོད་ཚོར་གནང་རྒྱུ་ཡིན་པའི་ཡུལ་དེར་ཁྱོད་ཚོ་ལ་བྱིན་རླབས་གནང་རྒྱུ་ཡིན་པ་དང་། 5  གལ་ཏེ་ཁྱོད་ཚོས་གཙོ་བོ་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་བཀའ་ལ་ཉན་ཞིང་། དེ་རིང་ངས་གང་སྨྲས་པ་དེ་ལ་ནན་ཏན་ཆེན་པོས་རྩིས་སྲུང་བྱེད་ན། ཁྱོད་ཚོའི་ནང་ནས་སུའང་དབུལ་བར་མི་འགྱུར། 6  གཙོ་བོ་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་སྔར་དམ་བཅའ་གནང་བ་བཞིན། ཁོང་གིས་ཁྱོད་ཚོར་བྱིན་རླབས་གནང་ཞིང་། ཁྱོད་ཚོས་མི་རིགས་མང་པོར་བུ་ལོན་བཏང་མོད། འོན་ཀྱང་ཁྱོད་ཚོས་གཞན་སུ་ཞིག་ནས་ཀྱང་བུ་ལོན་གཡར་མི་དགོས་སོ། ཁྱོད་ཚོས་མི་རིགས་མང་པོ་ཞིག་རང་དབང་དུ་བསྡུ་རྒྱུ་ཡིན་པ་ལས། མི་རིགས་སུས་ཀྱང་ཁྱོད་ཚོ་ལ་རང་དབང་དུ་བསྡུ་ཐུབ་མི་ཡོང་ངོ་།

7  གཙོ་བོ་དཀོན་མཆོག་ཁྱོད་ཚོའི་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ཁྱོད་ཚོར་གནང་རྒྱུ་ཡིན་པའི་ཡུལ་གྱི་གྲོང་ཁྱེར་གང་རུང་དུ་ཨིསི་རཱཨེལ་པ་ཞིག་དགོས་མཁོའིི་ནང་དུ་ཡོད་པ་ཡིན་ན། རང་དོན་ཁོ་ནར་མ་བསམ་པར། དེ་ལ་རོགས་བྱེད་ཀྱི་མིན་ཞེས་མ་ཟེར་ཞིག 8  དེ་ལྟར་མ་ཡིན་པར་གཏོང་སེམས་ཆེན་པོས་ཁོ་ལ་གང་དགོས་པའི་བུ་ལོན་སྤྲོད་ཅིག 9  བུ་ལོན་སེལ་ནས་འཇལ་མི་དགོས་པའི་ལོ་དུས་ཉེ་བར་རན་པ་ཡིན་ཟེར་དེ་ལ་བུ་ལོན་མ་སྤྲད་པ་མ་བྱེད་ཅིག དེ་ལྟ་བུའི་བསམ་སྦྱོར་ངན་པ་ཁྱོད་ཚོའི་སེམས་ནང་འཁོར་དུ་མ་བཅུག་ཅིག ཁྱོད་ཚོས་བུ་ལོན་མ་བཏང་བ་ཡིན་ན། མི་དེས་གཙོ་བོ་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་སྤྱན་སྔར་ཁྱོད་ཚོའི་ཐོག་ཏུ་ཞུ་འབུལ་བྱེད་སྐབས་ཁྱོད་ཚོ་སྐྱོན་ཅན་དུ་བརྩི་བར་འགྱུར། 10  དེ་བས་ན་རང་གི་ཁེ་ཕན་ལ་མ་ལྟོས་པར་གཏོང་སེམས་ཆེན་པོས་གཞན་ལ་སྤྲོད་ཅིག་དང་གཙོ་བོ་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས། ཁྱོད་ཚོའི་ལས་དོན་གང་སྤྱིར་བྱིན་རླབས་གནང་བར་འགྱུར། 11  ཨིསི་རཱཨེལ་པའི་ཁོངས་ནས་ག་དུས་ཡིན་རུང་མི་དབུལ་པོ་དང་དགོས་མཁོའི་ནང་ཚུད་པ་བྱུང་བ་དང་། དེ་ཚོར་གཏོང་སེམས་ཆེན་པོས་རོགས་བྱེད་དགོས་ཅེས་ངས་ཁྱོད་ཚོར་བཀའ་བསྒོས་བྱེད་ཀྱིས་ཡིན༎

12  གལ་ཏེ་ཨིསི་རཱཨེལ་པ་སྐྱེ་ཕོ་མོ་གང་རུང་ཞིག་གིས་རང་ལ་བྲན་གཡོག་གི་ཚུལ་དུ་ཁྱོད་ཚོའི་ལག་ཏུ་བཙོང་པ་ཡིན་ན། ལོ་དྲུག་རིང་བྲན་གཡོག་རྒྱུག་པའི་རྗེས་སུ་ཁྱོད་ཚོས་དེ་ལ་སློད་དཀྲོལ་གཏོང་དགོས་ཏེ། ལོ་བདུན་པའི་སྐབས་སུ་དེ་ཐར་བར་བྱེད་དགོས། 13  དེ་ལ་སློད་དཀྲོལ་བྱེད་སྐབས་ལག་པ་སྟོང་པར་མ་གཏོང་ཞིག 14  གཙོ་བོ་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ཁྱོད་ཚོར་བྱིན་རླབས་གནང་བའི་དངོས་ཟོག་གི་ཁོངས་ནས། ལུག་དང་། འབྲུ་སྣ། རྒུན་ཆང་བཅས་དེ་ལ་གཏོང་སེམས་ཆེན་པོས་སྤྲོད་ཅིག 15  ཁྱོད་ཚོ་སྔར་ཨི་ཇིབ་ཀྱི་བྲན་འཁོལ་ནས་གཙོ་བོ་དཀོན་མཆོག་ཁྱོད་ཚོའི་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་རང་དབང་དུ་བཏང་བ་དེ་དྲན་གསོ་བྱོས་ཤིག དེ་བས་ན་ངས་ད་ལྟ་ཁྱོད་ཚོ་ལ་བཀའ་བསྒོས་འདི་ལྟར་བྱེད་བཞིན་ཡོད།

16  འོན་ཀྱང་ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་བྲན་གཡོག་དེ་འགྲོ་འདོད་མ་བྱེད་པར། ཁྱོད་དང་ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་ནང་མིར་བརྩེ་བ་དང་ཆགས་སེམས་བྱས་ཏེ་ཁྱོད་ཚོ་དང་མཉམ་དུ་གནས་པར་འདོད་ན། 17  སྒོའི་རྩར་འཁྲིད་དེ། དེའི་ཨ་མཆོག་གཉིས་ལ་ཨི་ཁུང་འབིགས་ཤིང་། ཁོ་ཚེ་གང་ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་བྲན་གཡོག་ཏུ་གནས་དགོས་རྒྱུ་དང་། བྲན་མོ་ལའང་གོང་བཞིན་བྱེད་དགོས། 18  བྲན་གཡོག་ཞིག་སློད་དཀྲོལ་བྱེད་སྐབས་འགྱོད་སེམས་མ་བྱེད་ཅིག གང་ལྟར་དེས་གླ་རིན་ཕྱེད་ཀ་མ་གཏོགས་མ་ལེན་པར་ལོ་ངོ་དྲུག་བར་ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་ཞབས་ཕྱི་ཞུས་པ་ཡིན་པས། བློ་སེམས་དགའ་པོའི་སྒོ་ནས་སློད་ཅིག དེ་ལྟར་བྱེད་ན། གཙོ་བོ་དཀོན་མཆོག་ཁྱོད་ཚོའི་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ཁྱོད་ཚོའི་ལས་དོན་ཀུན་ལ་བྱིན་རླབས་གནང་རྒྱུ་ཡིན་ནོ༎

19  ཁྱོད་ཚོའི་ཕྱུགས་ཟོག་དང་ལུག་ཁྱུའི་སྔོན་སྐྱེས་བེའུ་དང་ལུ་གུ་གཙོ་བོ་དཀོན་མཆོག་ཁྱོད་ཚོའི་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་ཆེད་དུ་ཟུར་དུ་དབྱེ་ནས་བཞག་དགོས་པ་དང་། ཕྱུགས་ཟོག་དེ་དག་ལ་ལས་ཀ་བསྐུལ་མི་རུང་བ་དང་། དེ་ལྟ་བུའི་ལུག་གི་བལ་ཀྱང་འབྲེག་མི་རུང་བ་ཡིན་ནོ། 20 མཆོད་འབུལ་བྱེད་སའི་ས་གནས་གཅིག་པོ་དེར་གཙོ་བོ་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་སྤྱན་སྔར་ཁྱོད་ཚོ་ནང་མི་དང་བཅས་པས་དེ་དག་གི་ཤ་དེ་ལོ་ལྟར་རེ་བཞིན་ཟ་དགོས། 21  འོན་ཀྱང་སེམས་ཅན་དེ་ཚོ་རྐང་ཀྱོག་དང་ལོང་བ་དང་དེ་བཞིན་སྐྱོན་ཆག་ཆེན་པོ་ཡོད་པ་ཡིན་ན། དེ་དག་གཙོ་བོ་དཀོན་མཆོག་ཁྱོད་ཚོའི་དཀོན་མཆོག་ལ་དམར་མཆོད་འབུལ་མི་རུང་ངོ། 22  སེམས་ཅན་དེ་འདྲ་ནི་ཁྱོད་ཚོས་རང་གི་ཁྱིམ་དུ་ཟ་ནའང་ཆོག ཁྱོད་ཚོ་ཆོས་ཁྲིམས་བཞིན་དུ་དག་འབྱངས་བྱུང་ཡོད་པའམ་མེད་པ་ཚང་མས་ཤ་བ་དང་གཙོད་ཀྱི་ཤ་ཟ་བ་ལྟར་དེ་དག་ཟ་ཆོག་པ་ཡིན་ནོ། 23  འོན་ཀྱང་དེའི་ཁྲག་དེ་ཟ་མི་རུང་། ཆུ་གཤོ་བ་བཞིན་ཁྲག་དེ་སའི་ཁར་གཤོས་ཤིག།

Deuteronomy 15

“At the end of every seven years you shall grant a release. 2 And this is the manner of the release: every creditor shall release what he has lent to his neighbor. He shall not exact it of his neighbor, his brother, because the Lord’s release has been proclaimed. 3 Of a foreigner you may exact it, but whatever of yours is with your brother your hand shall release. 4 But there will be no poor among you; for the Lord will bless you in the land that the Lord your God is giving you for an inheritance to possess— 5 if only you will strictly obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all this commandment that I command you today. 6 For the Lord your God will bless you, as he promised you, and you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow, and you shall rule over many nations, but they shall not rule over you.

7 “If among you, one of your brothers should become poor, in any of your towns within your land that the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart or shut your hand against your poor brother, 8 but you shall open your hand to him and lend him sufficient for his need, whatever it may be. 9 Take care lest there be an unworthy thought in your heart and you say, ‘The seventh year, the year of release is near,’ and your eye look grudgingly on your poor brother, and you give him nothing, and he cry to the Lord against you, and you be guilty of sin. 10 You shall give to him freely, and your heart shall not be grudging when you give to him, because for this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in all that you undertake. 11 For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, ‘You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.’

12 “If your brother, a Hebrew man or a Hebrew woman, is sold to you, he shall serve you six years, and in the seventh year you shall let him go free from you. 13 And when you let him go free from you, you shall not let him go empty-handed. 14 You shall furnish him liberally out of your flock, out of your threshing floor, and out of your winepress. As the Lord your God has blessed you, you shall give to him. 15 You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God redeemed you; therefore I command you this today. 16 But if he says to you, ‘I will not go out from you,’ because he loves you and your household, since he is well-off with you, 17 then you shall take an awl, and put it through his ear into the door, and he shall be your slave forever. And to your female slave you shall do the same. 18 It shall not seem hard to you when you let him go free from you, for at half the cost of a hired worker he has served you six years. So the Lord your God will bless you in all that you do.

19 “All the firstborn males that are born of your herd and flock you shall dedicate to the Lord your God. You shall do no work with the firstborn of your herd, nor shear the firstborn of your flock. 20 You shall eat it, you and your household, before the Lord your God year by year at the place that the Lord will choose. 21 But if it has any blemish, if it is lame or blind or has any serious blemish whatever, you shall not sacrifice it to the Lord your God. 22 You shall eat it within your towns. The unclean and the clean alike may eat it, as though it were a gazelle or a deer. 23 Only you shall not eat its blood; you shall pour it out on the ground like water.

1  ཁྱོད་ཚོ་གཙོ་བོ་དཀོན་མཆོག་ཁྱོད་ཚོའི་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་མི་འབངས་ཡིན་པས། གཤིན་པོའི་མྱ་ངན་བྱེད་སྐབས་མི་རིགས་གཞན་དང་འདྲ་བར་རང་གིས་རང་ལ་གཤག་གཅོད་བྱེད་པའམ་མགོའི་མདུན་ཕྱོགས་ཀྱི་སྐྲ་མ་བཞར་ཅིག 2  གཙོ་བོ་དཀོན་མཆོག་ཁྱོད་ཚོའི་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་མི་འབངས་ཡིན་པ་དང་། ཁོང་གིས་ས་གཞིའི་མི་རིགས་ཀུན་གྱི་ནང་ནས་ཁྱོད་ཚོ་ཉིད་ཀྱི་མི་འབངས་སུ་བཀོད་པ་གནང་ཕྱིར་འདམས་གནང་བ་ཡིན་ནོ༎

3  གཙོ་བོ་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་མི་གཙང་བར་ཡིན་ཟེར་ཁྱབ་བསྒྲགས་གནང་བའི་རིགས་ཤིག་མ་ཟ་ཞིག 4  ཁྱོད་ཚོས་ཟ་རུང་བའི་སེམས་ཅན་རྣམས་ནི། བ་གླང་དང་། ལུག་དང་། ར་དང་། 5  ཤ་བ། གནའ་བ། ཁ་ཤ། གཙོད་དང་། 6  གཞན་ཡང་རྨིག་པ་ཁ་བྲལ་ཞིང་ལྡད་བརྒྱབ་མཁན་སེམས་ཅན་རྣམས་ཡིན་ནོ། 7  རྨིག་པ་ཁ་བྲལ་ཞིང་ལྡད་བརྒྱབ་མཁན་སེམས་ཅན་མ་གཏོགས་དེ་མིན་སེམས་ཅན་གཞན་རྣམས་ཟ་མི་རུང་། རྔ་མོང་ངམ། རི་བོང་ངམ། བྲག་གི་གྲུམ་པ་སོགས་ཟ་མི་རུང་། དེ་དག་མི་གཙང་བར་རྩིས་དགོས་སོ། གང་ལགས་ཟེར་ན། དེ་ཚོས་ལྡད་བརྒྱབ་རུང་རྨིག་པ་ཁ་བྲལ་མེད་པས་ཕྱིར་རོ། 8  ཡང་ཕག་པ་ཟ་མི་རུང་། དེ་ནི་མི་གཙང་བ་ཡིན་ནོ། དེའི་རྨིག་པ་ཁ་བྲལ་ཡོད་རུང་། དེས་ལྡད་མི་བརྒྱབ་པས་ཕྱིར་རོ། དེའི་ཤ་ཟ་བའམ་རོ་ལ་འཆང་ཡང་མི་རུང་ངོ་།

9  ཉའི་རིགས་ལས་ཤོག་པ་དང་ལྤགས་རིས་ལྡན་པའི་ཉ་རྣམས་ཟ་ཆོག་མོད། 10  འོན་ཀྱང་ཤོག་པ་དང་ལྤགས་རིས་མེད་པའི་ཆུའི་ནང་གི་སེམས་ཅན་གང་འདྲ་ཞིག་ཡིན་རུང་དེ་ནི་མི་གཙང་བ་ཡིན་པས་ཟ་མི་རུང་ངོ་།

11  འདབ་ཆགས་གཙང་བ་རྣམས་ཟ་རུང་མོད། 12-18  འོན་ཀྱང་བྱ་གླག་དང་། འུག་པ། ཁྲ། གོ་བོ། བྱ་རྒོད། ཕོ་རོག། བྱ་ཆེན་ཨོསི་ཊི་རི་ཆི། མཚོའི་འདབ་ཆགས། ངང་པ་དང་། ཁྲུང་ཁྲུང་། ཆུ་བྱའི་རིགས་སྣ་ཚོགས་དང་། ཕ་ཝང་དང་། ཙི་ཙི་ལྒང་པོ་བཅས་ཟ་མི་རུང་བ་ཡིན་ནོ།

19  འབུ་སྲིན་ཤོག་པ་ལྡན་པ་ཚང་མ་མི་གཙང་བ་ཡིན་པས། དེ་དག་ཟ་མི་རུང་། 20  འབུ་སྲིན་གཙང་མ་རྣམས་ཟ་རུང་བ་ཡིན་ནོ།

21  རང་བཞིན་གྱིས་ཤི་བའི་སྲོག་ཆགས་གང་ཡང་ཟ་མི་རུང་སྟེ། དེ་དག་ཁྱོད་ཚོའི་ཁྲོད་དུ་ཡོད་པའི་ཕྱི་རྒྱལ་བ་རྣམས་ལ་ཟ་རུ་བཅུག་པའམ། ཕྱི་རྒྱལ་བ་གཞན་ལ་འཚོང་བར་རུང་ངོ་། འོན་ཀྱང་ཁྱོད་ཚོ་ནི་གཙོ་བོ་དཀོན་མཆོག་ཁྱོད་ཚོའི་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་མི་འབངས་ཡིན་ནོ།

ལུག་གུའམ་ར་ཕྲུག་ཞིག་གི་ཤ་ནི་དེའི་ཨ་མའི་འོ་མའི་ནང་དུ་བཙོས་པར་མི་རུང་ངོ་༎

22  ལོ་རེར་ས་ཞིང་གི་ཐོན་སྐྱེད་གང་ཡོང་ནས་བཅུ་ཆ་ཞིག་ཟུར་དུ་དབྱེ་སྟེ། 23  གཙོ་བོ་དཀོན་མཆོག་ཁྱོད་ཚོའི་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་འདམས་པ་གནང་བའི་མཆོད་འབུལ་བྱེད་སའི་ས་གནས་གཅིག་པོ་དེར་ཕྱིན་ནས། དེར་ཁོང་གི་སྤྱན་སྔར་རང་གི་འབྲུ་དང་། རྒུན་ཆང་དང་། ཁ་སྐྱུར་པོའི་སྣུམ་སོགས་ཀྱི་བཅུ་ཁག་དང་། དེ་བཞིན་རང་གི་ཕྱུགས་ཟོག་ར་ལུག་སོགས་ཀྱི་སྔོན་སྐྱེས་ཀྱི་མཆོད་འབུལ་ལས་ཟ་དགོས། གཙོ་བོ་དཀོན་མཆོག་ཁྱོད་ཚོའི་དཀོན་མཆོག་ལ་རྒྱུན་དུ་མོས་གུས་ཞུ་སྟངས་ཤེས་ཕྱིར་དེ་ལྟར་བྱེད་དགོས་པ་ཡིན་ནོ། 24  གལ་ཏེ་མཆོད་འབུལ་བྱེད་སའི་ས་གནས་གཅིག་པོ་དེ་ཁྱོད་ཚོའི་སྡོད་ཁང་ནས་ཐག་རིང་པོར་ཡོད་པ་ཡིན་ན། རང་གི་གཙོ་བོ་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ཁྱོད་ཚོར་བྱིན་རླབས་གནང་བའི་ཐོན་སྐྱེད་ཀྱི་བཅུ་ཁག་དེ་འཁྱེར་བར་དཀའ་ངལ་ཡོད་ཚེ་ཁྱོད་ཚོས་དེ་ལྟར་བྱོས་ཤིག 25  ཐོན་སྐྱེད་ཀྱི་རིགས་རྣམས་འཚོང་ནས། དེའི་དངུལ་དེ་མཆོད་འབུལ་བྱེད་སའི་ས་གནས་གཅིག་པོ་དེར་འཁྱེར་ནས། 26  རང་གི་འདོད་མོས་བཞིན་གླང་ཤའམ་ལུ་གུའི་ཤ། རྒུན་ཆང་དང་ཆང་གཞན་སོགས་ཉོས་ཏེ། གཙོ་བོ་དཀོན་མཆོག་ཁྱོད་ཚོའི་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་སྤྱན་སྔར་ཁྱོད་ཚོ་ནང་མི་དང་བཅས་པས་ཟས་ནས་དགའ་སྤྲོ་བྱོས་ཤིག

27  ཁྱོད་ཚོའི་གྲོང་ཁྱེར་དུ་གནས་སྡོད་བྱེད་པའི་ལེ་ཝི་པ་རྣམས་ལ་རང་བདག་གི་རྒྱུ་དངོས་མེད་པས། དེ་ཚོར་ལྟ་སྐྱོངས་བྱེད་རྒྱུ་མ་བརྗེད་ཅིག 28  ལོ་གསུམ་རེའི་ལོ་མཇུག་ཏུ་སྟོན་ཐོག་ཚང་མའི་བཅུ་ཁག་བསྡུ་བསྒྲུགས་བྱས་ཏེ་ཁྱོད་ཚོའི་གྲོང་ཁྱེར་ནང་དུ་གསོག་འཇོག་བྱེད་དགོས། 29  ཁ་ཟས་དེ་དག་ནི་རང་བདག་གི་རྒྱུ་དངོས་མེད་པའི་ལེ་ཝི་པ་རྣམས་དང་། ཁྱོད་ཚོའི་གྲོང་ཁྱེར་དུ་གནས་པའི་ཕྱི་རྒྱལ་བ་རྣམས་དང་ད་ཕྲུག་དང་། དེ་བཞིན་ཡུག་མོ་རྣམས་ཀྱི་ཆེད་དུ་ཡིན། དེ་ཚོས་རང་ལ་གང་དགོས་པ་བཞིན་དེ་ནས་འཁྱེར་བཅུག་དགོས། དེ་ལྟར་བྱས་པ་ཡིན་ན་རང་གི་གཙོ་བོ་དཀོན་མཆོག་ཁྱོད་ཚོའི་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ཁྱོད་ཚོའི་ལས་དོན་ཚང་མར་བྱིན་རླབས་གནང་རྒྱུ་ཡིན་ནོ༎

Deuteronomy 14

“You are the sons of the Lord your God. You shall not cut yourselves or make any baldness on your foreheads for the dead. 2 For you are a people holy to the Lord your God, and the Lord has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.

3 “You shall not eat any abomination. 4 These are the animals you may eat: the ox, the sheep, the goat, 5 the deer, the gazelle, the roebuck, the wild goat, the ibex, the antelope, and the mountain sheep. 6 Every animal that parts the hoof and has the hoof cloven in two and chews the cud, among the animals, you may eat. 7 Yet of those that chew the cud or have the hoof cloven you shall not eat these: the camel, the hare, and the rock badger, because they chew the cud but do not part the hoof, are unclean for you. 8 And the pig, because it parts the hoof but does not chew the cud, is unclean for you. Their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch.

9 “Of all that are in the waters you may eat these: whatever has fins and scales you may eat. 10 And whatever does not have fins and scales you shall not eat; it is unclean for you.

11 “You may eat all clean birds. 12 But these are the ones that you shall not eat: the eagle, the bearded vulture, the black vulture, 13 the kite, the falcon of any kind; 14 every raven of any kind; 15 the ostrich, the nighthawk, the sea gull, the hawk of any kind; 16 the little owl and the short-eared owl, the barn owl 17 and the tawny owl, the carrion vulture and the cormorant, 18 the stork, the heron of any kind; the hoopoe and the bat. 19 And all winged insects are unclean for you; they shall not be eaten. 20 All clean winged things you may eat.

21 “You shall not eat anything that has died naturally. You may give it to the sojourner who is within your towns, that he may eat it, or you may sell it to a foreigner. For you are a people holy to the Lord your God.

“You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk.

22 “You shall tithe all the yield of your seed that comes from the field year by year. 23 And before the Lord your God, in the place that he will choose, to make his name dwell there, you shall eat the tithe of your grain, of your wine, and of your oil, and the firstborn of your herd and flock, that you may learn to fear the Lord your God always. 24 And if the way is too long for you, so that you are not able to carry the tithe, when the Lord your God blesses you, because the place is too far from you, which the Lord your God chooses, to set his name there, 25 then you shall turn it into money and bind up the money in your hand and go to the place that the Lord your God chooses 26 and spend the money for whatever you desire—oxen or sheep or wine or strong drink, whatever your appetite craves. And you shall eat there before the Lord your God and rejoice, you and your household. 27 And you shall not neglect the Levite who is within your towns, for he has no portion or inheritance with you.

28 “At the end of every three years you shall bring out all the tithe of your produce in the same year and lay it up within your towns. 29 And the Levite, because he has no portion or inheritance with you, and the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow, who are within your towns, shall come and eat and be filled, that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands that you do.
