Over four hundred years have passed. The Israelite herders have become Hebrew slaves to the Egyptians. Then God prepares Moses as his man, born a Hebrew, but brought up in the royal palace, yet obeying the command, and God uses him to rescue his people and lead them as pilgrims to the promised land. The Time for the Israelites to be Liberated

23དུས་ཡུན་རིང་པོའི་རྗེས་སུ་ཨི་ཇིབ་གྱི་རྒྱལ་པོ་དེ་ཤི་ཤིང་། ཨིསི་རཱཨེལ་པ་རྣམས་བྲན་ཁོལ་གྱི་མནར་གཅོད་དྲག་པོའི་རྐྱེན་གྱིས་སྐྱབས་རོགས་ཀྱི་ཆེད་དུ་ཤུགས་ནན་ཆེན་པོས་ངུ་འབོད་བཏོན་པ་དེ་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་མདུན་དུ་བསླེབས་སོ།

24དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་དེ་གསན་ནས། ཉིད་ཀྱི་ཨབ་ར་ཧམ་དང་། ཨི་སཱག་དང་། ཡ་ཀོབ་ལ་གནང་བའི་དམ་བཅའ་དེ་དྲན་གསོས་གནང་ཏེ།

25དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ཨིསི་རཱཨེལ་པ་རྣམས་ལ་ཐུགས་རྗེ་གཟིགས་ཤིང། དེ་ཚོའི་གནས་སྟངས་ཚང་མར་ཁོང་གིས་དོ་སྣང་གནང་ངོ་༎

God’s promise for Abraham’s offspring will be fulfilled.

སྡེབ་ཐོན 3:1-3

1ཉིན་ཞིག་མོ་ཤེས་རང་གི་གྱོས་པོ་མིད་ཡན་ཡུལ་གྱི་བླ་མ་ཡི་ཐོརོའི་ར་ལུག་འཚོ་ཞིང་ཡོད་པ་དང་། ར་ལུག་རྣམས་འབྲོག་སྟོང་གི་ཕར་ཕྱོགས་སུ་འཁྲིད་ནས་དམ་པའི་རི་བོ་སི་ནཨེ་རུ་བསླེབས་པ་དང་།

2དེར་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་ཕོ་ཉ་ཞིག་ཚེར་ཤིང་མེ་ལྕེ་འབར་བཞིན་པ་ཞིག་གི་དཀྱིལ་ནས་ཁོང་གི་མདུན་དུ་མངོན་ནོ། ཁོང་དེར་བལྟས་པས། དེར་མོ་ཤེས་ཚེར་ཤིང་དུ་མེ་འབར་ཡང་འཚིག་གི་མེད་པ་མཐོང་ངོ་།

3དེ་ནས་ཚེར་ཤིང་དེ་མེས་མ་འཚིག་པ་དེ་ཅི་ཡིན་ནམ་དེ་ཡ་མཚན་ཞིག་འདུག ཁོས་ང་དེའི་འགྲམ་དུ་ཕྱིན་ནས་བལྟ་དགོས་བསམ་མོ།

Moses has learned humility, having spent the years of exile as a herdsman. And God meets him in a burning bush.

 

God Appoints Moses as Leader

སྡེབ་ཐོན 3:4-12

4གཙོ་བོ་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ཁོ་ཉེ་བར་ཡོང་བ་གཟིགས་ནས་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ཚེར་ཤིང་གི་དཀྱིལ་ནས་ཁོ་ལ། མོ་ཤེ། མོ་ཤེ་ཞེས་བཀའ་གནང་བ་དང་།

ཁོང་གི་ཞུ་ལན་དུ་ང་འདི་རུ་ཡོད་ཅེས་ཞུས་སོ།

5ཁོང་གིས། ཁྱོད་ཐག་ཉེ་བར་མ་ཡོང་ཞིག། ཁྱོད་ལངས་ནས་བསྡད་ཡོད་པའི་ས་གནས་དེ་ནི་གནས་དམ་པ་ཞིག་ཡིན་པས། ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་ལྷམ་དེ་ཕུད་ཅིག།

6ང་ནི་ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་ཕ་མེས་ཀྱི་དཀོན་མཆོག། ཨབ་ར་ཧམ་གྱི་དཀོན་མཆོག། ཨི་སཱག་གི་དཀོན་མཆོག་དང་། ཡ་ཀོབ་ཀྱི་དཀོན་མཆོག་ཡིན་ཞེས་གསུངས་སོ། མོ་ཤེས་དཀོན་མཆོག་ལ་བལྟ་བར་འཇིགས་ནས་རང་གི་གདོང་སྦས་སོ།

7གཙོ་བོ་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ཨི་ཇིབ་ནང་ཡོད་པའི་ངའི་མི་དམངས་ཚོའི་དཀའ་ངལ་ངས་མཐོང་ཞིང་། བྲན་གཡོག་གི་དཔོན་པོ་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་དེ་ཚོར་མནར་གཅོད་བཏང་བའི་རྐྱེན་གྱིས་དེ་ཚོས་ངུ་འབོད་བཏོན་པ་དེ་ངས་གོ་བས། དེ་ཚོའི་སྡུག་བསྔལ་ཚང་མ་ངས་ཤེས་ཀྱི་ཡོད།

8དེར་བརྟེན་ངས་དེ་ཚོར་ཨི་ཇིབ་པ་རྣམས་ཀྱི་ལག་ནས་སྐྱབས་ཏེ་ཡུལ་དེ་ནས་བཏོན་ནས་ཡུལ་རྒྱ་ཆེ་བས་ནང་སྐྱལ་བའི་ཕྱིར་ང་སླེབས་ཡོད། ཡུལ་དེ་བཟང་པོ་དང་ས་ལུད་འཛོམས་པོ་ཡོད་པ་དང་། དེར་ད་ལྟ་ཀ་ནན་པ། ཧི་ཏི་པ། ཨ་མོར་པ། པེ་རི་ཛི་པ། ཧི་ཝི་པ་དང། ཡ་བུ་ཟི་པ་རྣམས་གནས་སྡོད་བྱེད་བཞིན་ཡོད་དོ།

9ད་ལྟོས་ཤིག། ཨིསི་རཱཨེལ་པའི་ངུ་འབོད་ངས་ཐོས་པ་དང་། ཨི་ཇིབ་པ་ཚོས་ཁོང་ཚོའི་ཐོག་ཏུ་བྱས་པའི་བཙན་གནོན་དྲག་པོ་དེ་དག་ཀྱང་ངས་མཐོང་ཡོད་དོ།

10ད་ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་ངའི་མི་འབངས་ཨིསི་རཱཨེལ་པ་ཚོ་ཨི་ཇིབ་ནས་འདོན་པའི་ཕྱིར་ངས་ཁྱོད་ལ་རྒྱལ་པོའི་མདུན་དུ་གཏོང་གི་ཡིན་ཞེས་གསུངས་སོ།

11འོན་ཀྱང་མོ་ཤེས་དཀོན་མཆོག་ལ། ཨིསི་རཱཨེལ་པ་རྣམས་ཨི་ཇིབ་ནས་ཕྱི་རོལ་དུ་འཁྲིད་གནང་མཁན་དང་། རྒྱལ་པོའི་མདུན་དུ་འགྲོ་ནུས་མཁན་ང་སུ་ཡིན་ནམ་ཞུས་སོ།

12ཁོང་གིས་ང་ངེས་པར་ཁྱོད་མཉམ་དུ་འགྲོགས་ཤིང་། ཁྱོད་ལ་ངས་བཏང་བའི་རྟགས་མཚན་མཚོན་ཆེད་དུ། ཁྱོད་ཀྱིས་མི་བརྒྱུད་དེ་རྣམས་ཨི་ཇིབ་ནས་བཏོན་པའི་རྗེས་སུ་ཁྱོད་ཚོས་རི་བོ་འདིའི་ཁར་དཀོན་མཆོག་ལ་བསྙེན་བཀུར་བྱེད་ཡོང་ཞེས་གསུངས་སོ།

God calls the Israelites ‘my people’, whom he will bring to the Land of Canaan. And he sends Moses back to Egypt to ask Pharaoh for their release.

 

Moses Goes to Pharaoh with God’s Command, ‘Let My People Go’

སྡེབ་ཐོན 4:18-20

18མོ་ཤེས་རང་གི་གྱོས་པོ་ཡི་ཐོརོའི་རྩར་ཕྱིན་ནས་ཁོང་ལ། ཨི་ཇིབ་དུ་ཡོད་པའི་ངའི་རང་རིགས་སྤུན་ཟླ་རྣམས་ད་དུང་གསོན་པོ་ཡོད་མེད་བལྟ་ཕྱིར་ཁོ་ཚོའི་རྩར་ཕྱིར་ལོག་འགྲོ་ཆོག་པའི་བཀའ་གནང་རོགས་གནང་ཞེས་ཞུས་པས། ཡི་ཐོརོས་མོ་ཤེ་ལ། ཁྱོད་ཞི་བདེའི་ངང་སོང་ཞིག་ཅེས་སྨྲས་སོ།

19སྐབས་དེར་མིད་ཡན་ཡུལ་དུ་གཙོ་བོ་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་མོ་ཤེ་ལ། ད་ཁྱོད་རང་ཨི་ཇིབ་དུ་ཕྱིར་ལོག་བྱོས་ཤིག། གང་ལ་ཟེར་ན། ཁྱོད་ལ་བསད་ཐབས་བྱེད་པའི་མི་ཚང་མ་ད་ཤི་ཚར་ནས་མེད་ཅེས་བཀའ་གནང་ངོ་།

20མོ་ཤེས་རང་གི་སྐྱེ་དམན་དང་བུ་རྣམས་འཁྲིད་ནས་དེ་དག་བོང་བུའི་ཐོག་ཏུ་བསྐྱོན་ཏེ་ཨི་ཇིབ་དུ་ཕྱིར་ལོག་བྱས་སོ། མོ་ཤེས་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་འཁར་རྒྱུག་དེ་ལག་པར་འཁྱེར་རོ།

སྡེབ་ཐོན 5:1

དེ་རྗེས་མོ་ཤེ་དང་ཨ་རོན་ཨི་ཇིབ་ཀྱི་རྒྱལ་པོའི་མདུན་དུ་ཕྱིན་ནས་ཁོང་ལ། ཨིསི་རཱཨེལ་གྱི་དཀོན་མཆོག་གཙོ་བོ་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ཁྱོད་ལ་གསུངས་པ། ངའི་མི་སྡེས་འབྲོག་སྟོང་ནང་དུ་ང་ལ་དགའ་སྟོན་ཞིག་བཤམས་ཕྱིར་དེ་དག་འགྲོར་ཆུགས་ཤིག་ཅེས་བཀའ་གནང་ཡོད་ཅེས་སྨྲས་སོ།

Moses’ brother accompanies him, as he is the better speaker.

 

*Pharaoh Refuses to Release the Hebrews – Exodus Chapters 5-12

Despite the LORD sending 10 plagues upon Egypt, Pharaoh refused permission 10 times.

*God brings the 10^th Plague, the Death of All the Firstborn in Egypt – Exodus 11:1

Moses goes to tell Pharaoh the news of the 10^th Plague, but Pharaoh did not listen (vv. 4-10)

*The Angel of Destruction ‘Passes Over’ Israelite Homes – Exodus Chapter 12

When the angel sees the blood offering in each household, it passes on and the firstborn son is not killed. The life blood of the lamb is the price of their liberation.

The sacrificial offering of the blood of a lamb in place of every firstborn son would be commanded in future years as a reminder of how God rescued Israel from slavery in Egypt (Ex 13:14).

 

Pharaoh Says ‘Go!’

When the plague struck, there was wailing in every Egyptian house including the palace (Exodus 12:29-30), forcing Pharaoh to say, ‘Go!’

མཚན་དེ་རང་ལ་རྒྱལ་པོས་མོ་ཤེ་དང་ཨ་རོན་ལ་བོས་ནས་སྨྲས་པ། ཁྱོད་རང་དང་ཨིསི་རཱཨེལ་གྱི་མི་དམངས་ཚང་མ་ངའི་ཡུལ་ནས་ཐོན་ཏེ། ཁྱོད་ཚོས་ཟེར་བ་བཞིན་གཙོ་བོ་དཀོན་མཆོག་ལ་བསྙེན་བཀུར་བྱེད་ཕྱིར་སོང་ཞིག

 

*The Long Pilgrimage to the Promised Land Begins – Exodus 13:17-22

Next time we shall read about the long pilgrimage of the People of Israel to the Promised Land. God has prepared his man of faith, Moses, to take God’s chosen people to Canaan. But the LORD himself led them both in the daytime, and also when they travelled by night.

25 སྡིག་ཉེས་ཀྱི་ལོངས་སྤྱོད་མི་རྟག་པ་ལས། ཁོང་གིས་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་མི་རྣམས་དང་མཉམ་དུ་མནར་གཅོད་མྱོང་བར་བདམས།

26 མ་འོངས་པའི་བྱ་དགའ་ལ་བལྟས་ཏེ། ཨེ་ཇེབ་ཀྱི་གཏེར་ལས་མཱ་ཤི་ཀའི་དོན་ལ་སྡུག་བསྔལ་མྱོང་བའི་ནོར་ཆེ་བར་བརྩིས།

27 དད་པའི་སྒོ་ནས་རྒྱལ་པོའི་ཁྲོ་བ་ལ་མ་འཇིགས་པར་མོ་ཤེ་ཨེ་ཇེབ་ནས་ཐོན། མིག་གིས་མཐོང་མི་སྲིད་པའི་དཀོན་མཆོག་ལ་ནན་གྱིས་བལྟས་ནས་ཁོང་གིས་བཟོད་པ་བསྒོམས།

28 དད་པའི་སྒོ་ནས་ཁོང་གིས་པེ་སག་ཟེར་བའི་དུས་ཆེན་བསྲུངས་ཤིང༌། སྔོན་སྐྱེས་ཀྱི་བུ་རྣམས་མེད་པ་བཟོ་བའི་ཕོ་ཉ་ཡིས་ཡི་སི་ར་ཨེལ་གྱི་སྔོན་སྐྱེས་པའི་བུ་རྣམས་ལ་གནོད་པ་མི་བྱེད་པའི་ཕྱིར་ཁྲག་གཏོར།

God’s rescue of Israel from Egypt is a picture of our need to be set free out of the slavery to dissonant thoughts (nyon mongs) that we all have inherited from our ancestor Adam. Jesus said, “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed” (John 8:36).

A sacrificed lamb in each household, and the passing over by the angel of judgment, is a picture of our rescue by faith in the blood of the lamb who is the trustworthy Lord Jesus, the Lamb of God, who sacrificed himself for us on the Cross.

Then the journey which the people of Israel had to make, and the path they took, is a picture of the pilgrimage to heaven that we too must make during the remainder of our lives on earth.

As soon as Israel had left on their journey, Pharaoh changed his mind; he gave chase. Their pilgrim-age would have dangers and difficulties, about which we will read next time.
