What we can learn from the letters of Peter about practice of faith in Christ in times of uncertainty.

པེ་ཏྲོ་གཉིས་པ། 3:11-13

11 ཐམས་ཅད་དེ་ལྟར་འཇིག་པར་འགྱུར་བས་ཁྱེད་ལ་སྤྱོད་ལམ་བཟང་པོ་དང་ཆོས་སེམས་ཇི་ལྟ་བུ་ཞིག་ཡོད་དགོས།

12 ཁྱེད་ཚོས་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་ཉིན་མོ་རེ་སྒུག་བྱེད་དེ་ཉིན་མོ་དེ་མགྱོགས་པོར་འོང་བའི་ཕྱིར་འབད་བརྩོན་བྱེད་དགོས། ཉིན་མོ་དེར་ནམ་མཁའ་འབར་ནས་འཇིག་ཅིང༌། འབྱུང་བ་རྣམས་མེ་ཡིས་ཞུ་བར་འགྱུར།

13 འོན་ཀྱང་ཁོང་གིས་ཞལ་གྱིས་བཞེས་པ་བཞིན་དུ་ནམ་མཁའ་གསར་པ་དང་ས་གཞི་གསར་པ་ཞིག་འབྱུང་བ་ང་ཚོས་རེ་སྒུག་བྱེད། དེ་ལ་དྲང་བདེན་ཉིད་གནས་པར་འགྱུར།

2 Peter 3:11-13

11 Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, 12 waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn! 13 But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

When God execute judgements there is the provision for redemption with specific conditions.

Peter’s message highlighted our duty to practice holiness and godliness in preparing for the day of the Lord and although it will be a time of judgment for the whole world but we who live in obedience to God’s teachings can look forward to our resurrection and entering eternal life with the Lord in the new heavens and new earth.

མངོན་པ། 21:1-4

1[ལྗཱོན་གྱིས་དཀོན་མཆོག་ཁོང་གིས་མི་མི་རེ་ངོ་རེ་ལ་ཞལ་ཆེ་གཅོད་གནང་གི་ཡོད་པའི་ཞལ་གཟིགས་དེ་མཐོང་

པའི་རྗེས་ལ་ཁོང་གིས་བྲིས་གནང་པ།] [ལྗཱོན་] ངས་ནམ་མཁའ་གསར་པ་ཞིག་དང་ས་གཞི་གསར་པ་ཞིག་

མཐོང་བྱུང་། གང་ཡིན་ཟེར་ན། ནམ་མཁའ་དང་པོ་དེ་དང་ས་གཞི་དང་པོ་དེ་ཡལ་ནས་མི་འདུག །རྒྱ་

གསར་པ་ཡིན་པའི་དམ་པའི་གྲོང་ཁྱེར་དེ་མཐོང་བྱུང་། ངས་གྲོང་ཁྱེར་གསར་པ་འདི་དམ་པའི་ཞིང་ནས་མར་

ཡོང་གི་ཡོད་པ་མཐོང་བྱུང་། དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་བཏང་གནང་པའི་གྲོང་ཁྱེར་གསར་པ་འདི་གོས་སྙིང་རྗེ་པོ་

གོན་ནས་རང་གི་ཁྱོ་ག་ཆེད་དུ་མཛེས་རྒྱན་སྤྲས་པའི་བག་མ་ཞིག་འདྲ་པོ་འདུག

3 ངས་གསུང་སྐད་ཆེན་པོ་ཞིག་ཐོས་བྱུང་། དེ་བཞུགས་ཁྲི་ཡོད་ས་ཕྱོགས་ནས་ཐོས་བྱུང་། གསུང་

གི་སྒྲ་དེས་གསུངས་སོང༌། “ལྟོས་དང་། དཀོན་མཆོག་ཁོང་འགྲོ་བ་མི་ཚོའི་ཆེད་དུ་སྐྱབས་གནས་ཆགས་ཀྱི་

རེད། ཁོང་ཁོང་ཚོ་མཉམ་དུ་བཞུགས་པ་ (དང་། ཁོང་ཚོ་གཡུག་བཞག་གནང་གི་མ་རེད།) ཁོང་ཚོ་

ཁོང་གི་མི་ཆགས་པ་ (དང་། ཁོང་ཚོས་ཁོང་ལ་དགའ་པོའི་ཐོག་ནས་བསྙེན་བཀུར་ཞུ་བ་དང་ཅི་གསུང་བཀའ་

སྒྲུབ་ཞུ་གི་རེད།) དཀོན་མཆོག་ཁོང་རང་ཉིད་ཁོང་ཚོ་མཉམ་དུ་བཞུགས་པ་དང་ཁོང་ཁོང་ཚོའི་དཀོན་མཆོག་

ཆགས་ཀྱི་རེད།

4[དཀོན་མཆོག་] ཁོང་གིས་ཁོང་ཚོའི་མིག་ཆུ་ཚང་མ་འཕྱིད་

གནང་གི་རེད། འཆི་བ་མེད་པ་ཆགས་ཀྱི་རེད། ཕྱིན་ཆད་མི་སུ་ཞིག་སེམས་སྡུག་བྱེད་པ་དང་། ཡང་ན་ངུ་

བ་དང་། ཡང་ན་སྡུག་བསྔལ་མྱང་གི་མ་རེད། ན་བ་དང་རྒ་བ་དང་འཆི་བ་མེད་པ་ཆགས་ཀྱི་རེད། གང་

ཡིན་ཟེར་ན། འདི་ཚོ་གཏན་དུ་ཡལ་བ་རེད།”

Revelation 21:1-4

1 [After John had seen the vision of God judging every individual person he wrote]: I [John] saw a new sky and a new earth. For the first sky and the first earth had disappeared and no longer existed. And the sea no longer existed.

2 Then I saw the Holy City, which is the new Jerusalem. I saw this new city coming down out of Heaven. This new city, which was sent by God, was like a beautifully-dressed bride who was adorned for her husband.

3 I heard a loud voice. It came from the direction of the throne. The voice said, “Behold! God will be a refuge for human beings. He will abide with them (and will not leave them). They will be his people (and they will gladly worship and obey him). Yes! God himself will be with them and he will be their God.

4 He [God] will wipe every tear from their eyes. Death will no longer exist. No one will ever grieve again or weep or suffer pain. Sickness, old age, and death will no longer exist. For these things have disappeared for ever.”

Salvation is by grace through faith but we have the responsibility to stand firm in our faith and practice.

Jesus redeemed us from bondage of sin and death so that we may walk in newness of life patterned after the example of Christ and to look forward to our resurrection in Christ.

Comparing all the letters written by various apostles of Jesus to the churches there is the common encouragement to stand firm in our faith and to persevere, and why is this theme repeated again and again?

The existence of sins and wickedness in this world is constantly at work through deceptions in all shape and forms to ensure people don’t get to receive true redemption in Christ. The appointed time for sin, wickedness, and deception, to be eradicated completely will be after the return of Christ and the future manifestation of the new heavens and earth.

So fur us in our current situation we need to hold on to the truth of God’s words and persevere in our faith in Christ.

ཡོ་ཧ་ནན། 8:31-32

31 དེ་ནས་ཡེ་ཤུས་ཁོང་ལ་དད་པ་ཡོད་པའི་ཡ་ཧུ་དཱ་པ་ཚོར་ “གལ་སྲིད་ཁྱེད་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་ངའི་བཀའ་ལ་མུ་མཐུད་ནས་མཉན་ན། ཁྱེད་ཚོ་ངའི་སློབ་མ་དངོས་གནས་ཡིན་ཏེ། 32 བདེན་པ་ཉིད་ཅི་ཡིན་ཤེས་པའི་སྒོ་ནས་ཁྱེད་ཚོ་སྒྲོལ་བར་འགྱུར་” ཞེས་གསུངས།

John 8:31-32

31 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Free from what?

Free from deception of this world that is keeping people in bondage to sin and darkness and holding people back from receiving true redemption in Christ.

The truth of God’s words is difficult and inconvenient for all of us.

The truth of God’s words exposed to us our human sins and wickedness and we either turn to God in repentance and humility or continue to rebel.

Atheism is a modern invention for those who think they can choose the middle ground but there is no middle ground.

The truth of God’s words gives us two options – receive or rebel.

Therefore those who rejected Jesus as Messiah conspired to murder Him and God raised Him from the dead!

ཐི་མོ་ཐེ་དང་པོ། 3:16

16དད་གུས་ཀྱི་གསང་བ་ནི་རླབས་ཆེ་བ་ཞིག་ཡིན་པ་ཀུན་གྱིས་ཁས་ལེན་པར་གདོན་མི་ཟ༌སྟེ།

མི་ཡི་ཤ་གཟུགས་བརྒྱུད་ནས་སྐྱབས་མགོན༌མངོན།།

ཐུགས་ཉིད་ཀྱིས་ནི་རྣམ་དག་ཡིན་པ༌བསྟན།།

ཕོ་ཉ་རྣམས་ནི་ཁོང་ལ་མཇལ་བ༌ཡིན།།

མི་རིགས་དུ་མར་ཁོང་ཉིད་ཡོངས་སུ༌བསྒྲགས།།

འཇིག་རྟེན་མི་རྣམས་ཁོང་ལ་དད་པར༌གྱུར།།

གཟི་བརྗིད་ལྡན་པའི་ནམ་མཁའི་ཞིང་དུ༌དྲངས།།

1 Timothy 3:16

16 Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness: Jesus was manifested in the flesh, Vindicated by the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.

ཐི་མོ་ཐེ་གཉིས་པ། 2:8-13

8ཁྱོད་ཀྱིས་ཡེ་ཤུ་མཱ་ཤི་ཀ་ཡིད་ལ་གཟུང་བར་བྱའོ།། བདག་གིས་སྒྲོག་པའི་འཕྲིན་བཟང་བཞིན། ཁོང་ནི་དཱ་བིད་ཀྱི་གདུང་རྒྱུད་ཡིན་ཞིང་སྐུ་གྲོངས་པ་ནས་སླར་གསོན་པ༌དེ་ཡིན། 9འཕྲིན་བཟང་འདིའི་ཆེད་དུ་བདག་གིས་སྡུག་བསྔལ་མྱོང་བ་དང༌། ཐ་ན་ང་རང་ཉེས་ཅན་བཞིན་དུ་ལྕགས་སྒྲོག་གིས་ཀྱང་བཀྱིགས་མོད། འོན་ཀྱང་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་བཀའ་ནི་འཁྱིག་མི་ཐུབ་བོ།། 10དེའི༌ཕྱིར། བདམས་པའི་མི་རྣམས་ཀྱི་ཆེད༌དུ། བདག་གིས་དོན་ཀུན་ལ་བཟོད་བསྲན་བྱེད་བཞིན་ཡོད༌དེ། མི་དེ་རྣམས་ལའང་མཱ་ཤི་ཀ༌ཡེ་ཤུའི་ནང་དུ་ཡོད་པའི་ཐར་པ་དང་མཐའ་མེད་པའི་གཟི་བརྗིད་འཐོབ་པའི་ཕྱིར༌རོ།། 11དེ་ལ་ཡིད་རྟོན་རུང་བའི་གཏམ་ཞིག་ཡོད་པ་འདི་ལྟ༌སྟེ།

བདག་ཅག་ཁོང་དང་ལྷན་ཅིག་གྲོངས་པས༌ན།།

ཁོང་དང་ལྷན་དུ་གསོན་པ་གདོན་མི༌ཟ།།

12བདག་ཅག་གིས་ཀྱང་བཟོད་བསྲན་བྱེད་ནུས༌ན།།

ཁོང་དང་ལྷན་ཅིག་རྒྱལ་སྲིད་བསྐྱང་བར༌འགྱུར།།

བདག་ཅག་ཁོང་ལ་ངོ་ལོག་བྱས་གྱུར༌ན།།

ཁོང་གིས་བདག་ཅག་ཁས་ལེན་མི་མཛད་དོ།།

13བདག་ཅག་ཁ་བཤད་ཚིག་ལ་མི་གནས༌ཀྱང་།།

ཁོང་ནི་རང་ཚིག་སྔ་ཕྱི་འགལ་མིན་པས༎

སྔར་བཞིན་རང་གི་གསུང་ལ་གནས་པར༌འགྱུར།།

2 Timothy 2:8-13

8 Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, the offspring of David, as preached in my gospel, 9 for which I am suffering, bound with chains as a criminal. But the word of God is not bound! 10 Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. 11 The saying is trustworthy, for: If we have died with him, we will also live with him; 12 if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us; 13 if we are faithless, he remains faithful— for he cannot deny himself.

So the teachings and encouragement of Peter are very clear and consistent, that we are to stand firm in our faith and to persevere by means of living in obedience to the truth of God’s words. We are standing on this faith in Christ for our future resurrection.
