Sowing and Reaping – Part 12

 

Generosity has been a necessary contributing factor to evangelism and winning people to Christ! It’s part of sowing and harvesting.

 

ཡེ་ཤ་ཡཱ 32:20

སྟོན་ཐོག་གི་ཆེད་དུ་ཆུ་འབོལ་པོ་དང་བོང་བུ་དང་ཕྱུགས་ལ་ས་གནས་གང་སར་རྩ་ཁ་བཟང་པོ་ཐོབ་པས་ཚང་མ་ཇི་ལྟར་དགའ་སྤྲོ་རྙེད་དོ༎

 

Isaiah 32:20

Happy are you who sow beside all waters, who let the feet of the ox and the donkey range free.

 

This message from Isaiah speaks of the act of sowing. The purpose of sowing is to expect harvest, to rep what is being sowed.

I think Isaiah’s message was not just referring to actual agricultural practices because farmers are careful about where they sow and they don’t let their ox and donkey roam free when it is time to work the field.

In the context of Isaiah 32 there is the reference to the coming Messiah who will establish righteousness and justice, people having received proper understanding and knowledge of God, and restoration of peace to people and places that had been forsaken.

Today with benefits of hindsight we know the restoration works of the Messiah had started lone ago with the sowing of God’s word in the hearts of men and women, way before the appearing of Jesus.

Form Noah, to Abraham, to Moses, all the way to Jesus, the words of God have gone forth, although many rejected but those who trusted and persevered are reaping the blessing of God’s gift of righteousness and salvation.

Noah believed God and acted to do what God revealed to him about the flood and the coming destruction due to pervasive sin and wickedness on Earth. Noah and his household were saved.

Abraham believed God and acted according to God’s instruction and from him come the line of Isaac, Jacob. The nation of Israel from the sons of Jacob had their up and down in history, but those who persevered in faith, finally was born the Messiah from the line of Judah.

 

ལོ་ཀུ 2:8-14

8ཡུལ་དེའི་མཐའ་སྐོར་ནས་ལུག་རྫི་འགའ་ཞིག་ཐང་རྒོད་དུ་བསྡད་དེ། མཚན་མོར་རེས་བསྐོར་ནས་རང་གི་ལུག་ཁྱུ་སྲུང་བཞིན་ཡོད་ལ། 9གཙོ་བོའི་ཕོ་ཉ་ཞིག་གློ་བུར་ལུག་རྫི་རྣམས་ཀྱི་གམ་དུ་ཕེབས༌ཤིང༌། གཙོ་བོའི་གཟི་བརྗིད་ཀྱི་འོད་སྣང་ཡང་ཁོ་ཚོའི་ཕྱོགས་བཞིར་ཁྱབ་པས་ཁོ་རྣམས་ཤིན་ཏུ་འཇིགས་སོ།། 10ཕོ་ཉས་དེ་རྣམས་ལ་འདི་སྐད༌དུ། མ་འཇིགས༌ཤིག ངས་ཁྱོད་ཅག་ལ་ཤིན་ཏུ་དགའ་འོས་པའི་འཕྲིན་བཟང་མི་ཐམས་ཅད་དང་འབྲེལ་བ་ཞིག་འཆད༌དེ། 11དེ་རིང་དཱ་བིད་ཀྱི་གྲོང་རྡལ་ནས་ཁྱོད་ཅག་གི་ཆེད་དུ་སྐྱབས་མགོན་ཞིག་འཁྲུངས༌ཤིང༌། ཁོང་ནི་གཙོ་བོ་མཱ་ཤི་ཀ་ཡིན། 12ཡང་ཁྱོད་ཅག་གིས་རས་ཀྱིས་བཏུམས་ནས་ཁ་རའི་ནང་དུ་བསྙལ་བའི་ཕྲུ་གུ་ཞིག་མཐོང་ངེས་པ་དེ་ནི་ཁྱོད་ཅག་ལ་གནང་བའི་རྟགས་ཡིན་ཞེས་སྨྲས་པ༌དང༌། 13གློ་བུར༌ཉིད་ལ། ནམ་མཁའི་ཞིང་ཁམས་ནས་ཕོ་ཉའི་དཔུང་ཚོགས་ལས་ཤིན་ཏུ་མང་པོ་གནས་དེར་སླེབས་ཤིང༌། ཕོ་ཉ་དེ་དང་ལྷན་ཅིག་གིས་དཀོན་མཆོག་ལ་བསྟོད་བསྔགས་བྱེད་བཞིན་འདི་སྐད༌དུ།

14བླ་མེད་གནས་སུ་དཀོན་མཆོག་ཉིད་ལ་བསྟོད་པ་འབུལ་བ༌དང༌།།

ས་གཞིར་ཁོང་ཉིད་དགྱེས་པའི་མི་ལ་ཞི་བདེ་འཐོབ་པར་ཤོག །

 

Luke 2:8-14

8 And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. 10 And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,

14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”

 

Jesus after His death and resurrection, commissioned His disciples to go make disciples of all nations. These faithful disciples of Jesus started in Jerusalem, were persecuted and scattered, and they continued bearing witness to Jesus everywhere they went to.

 

མཛད་འཕྲིན། 8:4

དེ་ནས་ཁ་ཐོར་དུ་སོང་བའི་མི་དེ་རྣམས་ཡུལ་སོ་སོར་སོང་ནས་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་བཀའ་བསྒྲགས་སོ།།

 

Acts 8:4

Now those who were scattered went about preaching the word

 

As they preach they sow and God harvested.

It appear Isaiah’s message was prophetic –

Isaiah 32:20

Paul a prominent apostle of Christ who went everywhere preaching Jesus and was badly persecuted, encouraged an attitude of generosity towards sowing the words of God –

12སྤུན་ཟླ༌རྣམས། ངས་ཁྱོད་རྣམས་ལ་ཤེས་སུ་འཇུག་འདོད་པ་ནི། བདག་ལ་བྱུང་བའི་དོན་དེས་འཕྲིན་བཟང་སྔར་ལས་འཕེལ་བར་བྱས༌ཤིང༌། 13ཐ་ན་ང་རང་བཙོན་དུ་འཇུག་དོན་ཡང་ཕོ་བྲང་ནང་གི་དམག་མི་དང་མི་གཞན་ཐམས་ཅད་ཀྱི་ཁྲོད༌དུ། སྐྱབས་མགོན་མཱ་ཤི་ཀའི་ཆེད་དུ་ཡིན་པ་གསལ་པོར་མངོན་ནོ།། 14གཞན༌ཡང༌། གཙོ་བོ་ནང་གི་སྤུན་ཟླ་མང་ཤོས་ཀྱང་ང་རང་བཙོན་དུ་སྦྱར་བའི་རྐྱེན་གྱིས་དད་མོས་ཆེ་ཞིང་ཐེ་ཚོམ་མེད་པ༌དང༌། སྔར་ལས་ཀྱང་སྙིང་སྟོབས་བསྐྱེད་ནས་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་བཀའ་སྒྲོག་པ་ལ་འཇིགས་པ་ཅི་ཡང་མེད༌དོ།།

15མི་ལ་ལས་སྐྱབས་མགོན་མཱ་ཤི་ཀའི་ཆོས་སྒྲོག་པ་ནི་ཕྲག་དོག་དང་འགྲན་སེམས་ཀྱི་རྐྱེན་ཡིན་པ༌དང༌། ལ་ལ་ནི་ཕན་འདོགས་པའི་སེམས་ཡིན༌ཏེ། 16-17སྔ་མ་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་སེམས་དྲང་པོ་མ་བཅངས༌པར་སྒེར་སེམས་ངང་ནས་ཆོས་སྒྲོག༌ཅིང༌། བཙོན་དུ་བཅུག་པ་ང་རང་ལ་སྡུག་བསྔལ་ཇེ་ཆེར་གཏོང་འདོད༌པ་ཡིན། ཕྱི་མ་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་བྱམས་པའི་ངང་ནས་ཆོས་སྒྲོག་ཅིང་ང་རང་ནི་འཕྲིན་བཟང་ལ་བདེན་དཔང་བྱེད་པའི་ཆེད་དུ་བསྐོས་པ་ཤེས་སོ།། 18དེར་སྐྱོན་ཅི་ཡོད་དམ། སྔ་ཕྱིའི་བདེན་རྫུན་གང་ཡིན་ཡང་མཐར་ཐུག་སྐྱབས་མགོན་མཱ་ཤི་ཀའི་ཆོས་བསྒྲགས་པ་ཡིན༌པས། ང་རང་ད་ལྟ་དགའ་ཞིང་ཕྱིས་སུའང་དགའ་བར་འགྱུར། 19ཅིའི་ཕྱིར་ཞེ་ན། དོན་འདི་ནི་ཁྱོད་ཅག་གི་གསོལ་འདེབས་དང་ཡེ་ཤུ་མཱ་ཤི་ཀའི་ཐུགས་ཉིད་ཀྱིས་རོགས་རམ་མཛད་པ་བརྒྱུད༌ནས། མཇུག་མཐར་ང་རང་ཐར་བར་འགྱུར་བ་བདག་གིས་ཤེས་པས༌སོ།། 20བདག་གིས་ཡིད་སྨོན་དང་རེ་འདུན་ཆེན་པོ་བཅངས་པ༌ལྟར། བདག་ལ་ངོ་གནོང་དགོས་པའི་དོན་གཅིག་ཀྱང་མེད༌དེ། བདག་ལ་ཤི་གསོན་གང་འདྲ་བྱུང་ནའང་སྤོབས་པ་ཆེན་པོ་བཅངས༌ཏེ། སྔར་བཞིན་ད་ལྟ་ཡང་ངའི་ལུས་སྟེང་ནས་སྐྱབས་མགོན་མཱ་ཤི་ཀའི་གཟི་བརྗིད་མངོན་པར༌འགྱུར་རོ།། 21ཅིའི་ཕྱིར་ཞེ་ན། ང་རང་གསོན་པོར་འཚོ་བ་ནི་སྐྱབས་མགོན་མཱ་ཤི་ཀའི་ཆེད་དུ་ཡིན༌ལ། ང་རང་འཆི་བར་གྱུར་ནའང་བདག་ལ་ཕན་ཐོགས་ཡོད་པའི་ཕྱིར༌ཡིན།

 

Philippians 1:12-21

12 I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel, 13 so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard and to all the rest that my imprisonment is for Christ. 14 And most of the brothers, having become confident in the Lord by my imprisonment, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.

15 Some indeed preach Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from good will. 16 The latter do it out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. 17 The former proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely but thinking to afflict me in my imprisonment. 18 What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in that I rejoice.

Yes, and I will rejoice, 19 for I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance, 20 as it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death. 21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

 

Sowing the words of God seems so important to Paul he gave his whole life to it

Paul rejoices for the proclamations of Christ.

 

ཀོ་རིན་ཐུ་པ་གཉིས་པ། 9:6-11

6དོན་ནི་འདི་ཡིན་ཏེ། ས་བོན་ཉུང་ངུ་བཏབ་ན་ལོ་ཏོག་ཉུང་ངུ་བསྡུ༌ཞིང༌། ས་བོན་མང་པོ་བཏབ་ན་ལོ་ཏོག་མང་པོ་བསྡུ་ཞེས་པའོ།། 7ཡིད་སེམས་དགའ་མོས་ངང་ནས་ཞལ་འདེབས་ཕུལ་བ་ལ་དཀོན་མཆོག་ཐུགས་དགྱེས་པ་ཡིན༌པས། མི་སོ་སོས་རང་སེམས་ནས་ཐག་གིས་བཅད་པ་ལྟར་འབུལ་དགོས་པ༌ལས། སེམས་སྡུག་གམ་ཨུ་ཚུགས་ཀྱི་ངང་ནས་འབུལ་མི་འོས་པ་ཡིན། 8དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ཐུགས་རྗེ་སྣ་ཚོགས་ཁྱོད་རྣམས་ལ་མང་དུ་གནང༌ནུས་ཏེ། རྟག་ཏུ་དོན་གང་ཅིའི་ཐད་ནས་ཁྱོད་རྣམས་ལ་མི་འདང་ས་མེད་ཅིང་དོན་བཟང་མང་དུ་བསྒྲུབ་ཐུབ་པའི་ཕྱིར་རོ།། 9དེ་ལ་གསུང་རབ་ཀྱི་མདོ་ལས་ཇི་སྐད༌དུ།

རྒྱུ་ནོར་བཏང་ནས་དབུལ་པོ་སྐྱོབ་བྱེད༌པས།།

ཁོང་གི་དྲང་བདེན་ཇི་སྲིད་བར་དུ༌གནས།།

ཞེས་བཀོད་པ་བཞིན༌ནོ།།

10ཞིང་འདེབས་མཁན་ལ་ས་བོན་དང་མི་ལ་བག་ལེབ་གནང་མཁན་གྱིས་ཁྱོད་རྣམས་ལ་གདབ་བྱའི་ས་བོན་སྦྱོར་ཞིང་སྤེལ་ཏེ། ཁྱོད་རྣམས་ཀྱི་དྲང་བདེན་གྱི་འབྲས་བུའང་འཕེལ་བར་མཛད་ངེས༌སོ།། 11ཁྱོད་ཅག་གིས་ཀྱང་སྦྱིན་པ་མང་པོ་གཏོང་བའི་ཕྱིར། ཁྱོད་རྣམས་དོན་གང་ཅིའི་ཐད་ནས་ཕུན་སུམ་ཚོགས་པར་མཛད༌པར་འགྱུར་ཞིང༌། དེ་ནས་ངེད་ཅག་བརྒྱུད་ནས་དཀོན་མཆོག་ལ་བཀའ་དྲིན་ཞུ་བའི་སེམས་འབྱུང་ངོ་།།

 

2 Corinthians 9:6-11

6 The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. 9 As it is written,

“He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.”

10 He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.

 

The ministry of the words of God will consume us completely.

Nevertheless we are to rejoice for the proclamations of Christ as Paul did and whatever acts of charity and generosity to support sowing eventually contribute to the harvest for the kingdom of God.
