Jesus response to those who challenged His authority
ཡོ་ཧ་ནན། 2:18-22
18དེ་ནས་ཡ་ཧུ་དཱ་པ་རྣམས་ན༌རེ། ཁྱེད་ལ་དོན་འདི་རྣམས་མཛད་པའི་དབང་ཡོད་པར་བདེན་དཔང་བྱ་ཆེད་གྲུབ་རྟགས་གང་ཞིག་སྟོན་ནུས་སམ་ཞེས་སྨྲས་པ༌ལ། 19སྐྱབས་མགོན་ཡེ་ཤུས་འདི་སྐད༌དུ། གལ་ཏེ་ཁྱོད་ཅག་གིས་མཆོད་ཁང་འདི་བཤིག་ན། བདག་གིས་ཉིན་གསུམ་ལ་སླར་ཡང་བརྩིག་པར་བྱ་ཞེས་གསུངས་སོ།། 20ཡང་དེ་རྣམས་ན༌རེ། མཆོད་ཁང་འདི་ནི་ལོ་ངོ་བཞི་བཅུ་ཞེ་དྲུག་གི་རིང་ལ་བརྩིགས་པ་ཡིན་ཡང་ཁྱོད་ཀྱིས་ཉིན་གསུམ་ལ་བརྩིག་ཐུབ་བམ་ཞེས་དྲིས། 21འོན་ཀྱང་དེ་ནི་སྐྱབས་མགོན་ཡེ་ཤུས་རང་གི་སྐུ་ལུས་ཡིན་པའི་མཆོད་ཁང་ལ་དམིགས་ཏེ་གསུངས་པ་ཡིན། 22དེའི༌ཕྱིར། ཁོང་ཉིད་སྐུ་གཤེགས་པ་ནས་སླར་གསོན་པའི་རྗེས༌སུ། ཐུགས་སྲས་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་ཁོང་གི་གསུང་དེ་དྲན༌ནས། གསུང་རབ་ཀྱི་མདོ་དང་སྐྱབས་མགོན་ཡེ་ཤུས་གསུངས་པའི་བཀའ་ལ་དད་པར་གྱུར༌ཏོ།།
John 2:18-22
18 So the Jews said to him, “What sign do you show us for doing these things?” 19 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” 20 The Jews then said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will you raise it up in three days?” 21 But he was speaking about the temple of his body. 22 When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the Scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken.
The Jews who were running the religious scam at the Temple asked Jesus for a “sign” to justify what He did.
This asking for a “sign” was a challenge of Jesus’ authority. And it had to do with their perception of the coming Messiah whom they expected to do great wonders to deliver Israel from being subjected to Rome or to proof Jesus was a prophet of God who should be able to perform great signs and wonders.
So how did Jesus reply?
19སྐྱབས་མགོན་ཡེ་ཤུས་འདི་སྐད༌དུ། གལ་ཏེ་ཁྱོད་ཅག་གིས་མཆོད་ཁང་འདི་བཤིག་ན། བདག་གིས་ཉིན་གསུམ་ལ་སླར་ཡང་བརྩིག་པར་བྱ་ཞེས་གསུངས་སོ།།
19 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”
The Jews who heard what Jesus said were amused and in mockery reminded Jesus the current Temple took more than four decades of rebuilding and reconstruction!
The Temple where they were doing their religious scam was historically known as Herod’s Temple because Herod spent much wealth and resources to reconstruct the Temple that it became more lavish than what was expected. Herod’s Temple became more of a tourist attraction! All sorts of people from across the known Roman world came to Jerusalem to see that “wonders of ancient worlds” but not with true intention to seek the true God. Therefore it was no surprises there were actual religious scam going on there at the Temple targeting those who did came to seek God.
God choose Israel to show forth His glory and salvation to the world but whoever was running the Temple at that time turned it to profiteering and religious scam!
Of course the Jews at that time did not expect and had no idea the Temple would eventually be destroyed by Rome in another 40 years after the death and resurrection of Jesus! And these religious scammers at the Temple did not even believe Jesus could be the Messiah.
So these people who were mocking Jesus did not realize Jesus’ reply did actually provided the most important sign of His authority!
21འོན་ཀྱང་དེ་ནི་སྐྱབས་མགོན་ཡེ་ཤུས་རང་གི་སྐུ་ལུས་ཡིན་པའི་མཆོད་ཁང་ལ་དམིགས་ཏེ་གསུངས་པ་ཡིན། 22དེའི༌ཕྱིར། ཁོང་ཉིད་སྐུ་གཤེགས་པ་ནས་སླར་གསོན་པའི་རྗེས༌སུ། ཐུགས་སྲས་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་ཁོང་གི་གསུང་དེ་དྲན༌ནས། གསུང་རབ་ཀྱི་མདོ་དང་སྐྱབས་མགོན་ཡེ་ཤུས་གསུངས་པའི་བཀའ་ལ་དད་པར་གྱུར༌ཏོ།།
21 But he was speaking about the temple of his body. 22 When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the Scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken.
The death and resurrection of Jesus is foundational to our faith and truth in the salvation of God through His chosen Messiah.
The death and resurrection of Jesus fulfilled Scripture prophesy of the coming Messiah chosen of God.
The resurrection of Jesus was an explosive topic covered all over the Book of Acts!
From the day of Pentecost when Peter preached about the resurrection of Jesus and how he proof from scripture Jesus is the Messiah chosen of God, many disciples had gone all over preaching the same convincing message about Jesus.
Paul was a prominent preacher covered in Acts and he preached mainly from the resurrection of Jesus! Even Paul suffered for preaching Jesus and the state prosecutors were amazed by what Paul was preaching!
མཛད་འཕྲིན། 25:13-19
13དེ་ནས་ཉིན་ཁ་ཤས་འགོར༌རྗེས། ས་གནས་རྒྱལ་པོ་ཨག་རི་པཱ་དང་པུར་ནེ་ཀེ་གཉིས་ཀེ་སར་ཡཱ་རུ་ཕེབས་ཏེ་ཕེ་ཏི་ལ་འཚམས་འདྲི་བྱས༌ཤིང༌། 14ཁོ་གཉིས་ཉིན་མང་པོར་བཞུགས་པ་དང་ཕེ་ཏི་ཡིས་ཕོལ་ལོལ་གྱི་གནས་ཚུལ་ས་གནས་རྒྱལ་པོ་ལ་འདི་ལྟར་ཞུས་པ༌སྟེ། འདིར་ཕེ་ལིག་གིས་བཙོན་དུ་བཅུག་པའི་མི་ཞིག་ཡོད་པ༌དང༌། 15ང་རང་ཡེ་རུ་སཱ་ལེམ་དུ་སྡོད་པའི་དུས༌སུ། མཆོད་དཔོན་ཆེན་པོ་དག་དང་ཡ་ཧུ་དཱ་པའི་རྒན་པོ་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་མི་དེ་གཏུགས་ཤིང་ཁོ་རང་ལ་ཉེས་ཆད་གཅོད་པའི་རེ་བ་ཞུས། 16ངས་དེ་རྣམས་ལ་འདི་ལྟར་སྨྲས་པ༌སྟེ། མི་སུ་ཞིག་ཡིན་ཡང་གྱོད་ཡ་དང་གཏུག་མཁན་གཉིས་ཀྱིས་གདོང་ཐུག་ནས་ར་སྤྲོད་མ་བྱས་པ༌དང༌། རང་ཉིད་གཏུགས་པའི་དོན་དེར་དག་འབུད་བྱེད་པའི་གོ་སྐབས་མ་བྱུང་སྔོན༌དུ། མི་དེར་ཉེས་ཆད་གཅོད་པ་ནི་རོ་མཱ་པའི་སྲོལ་མིན་ཞེས་བཤད་པ༌ཡིན། 17དེ་ནས་གཏུག་མཁན་རྣམས་འདིར་སླེབས་པ་དང་ངས་དུས་འགྱངས་མ་བྱས༌པར། དེའི་ཕྱི་ཉིན་ང་རང་ཁྲིམས་དཔོན་གྱི་ཁྲིའི་སྟེང་དུ་བསྡད་ནས་མི་དེ་འཁྲིད་ཡོང་དགོས་པའི་བཀའ་བསྒོས་པ༌དང༌། 18གཏུག་མཁན་རྣམས་ཡར་ལངས་ཏེ་ཁོ་རང་གཏུགས༌ཤིང༌། དེ་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་གཏུགས་པའི་དོན་དེ་དག་ནི་ངས་ཚོད་དཔག་བྱས་པའི་ཉེས་པ་དེའི་རིགས་ནི་མིན་ནོ།། 19འོན༌ཀྱང༌། ཁོ་རྣམས་ཀྱི་བར་དུ་རང་གི་ཆོས་ལུགས་ཐད་ནས་རྩོད་པ༌འགའ་ཤས་བྱུང་བ་སྟེ། ཡེ་ཤུ་ཟེར་བའི་མི་ཞིག་ཡོད་པ་ཤི་ཟིན་ནའང་ཕོལ་ལོལ་གྱིས་དེ་གསོན་པོ་ཡིན་ཞེས་ཟེར།
Acts 25:13-19
13 Now when some days had passed, Agrippa the king and Bernice arrived at Caesarea and greeted Festus. 14 And as they stayed there many days, Festus laid Paul’s case before the king, saying, “There is a man left prisoner by Felix, 15 and when I was at Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews laid out their case against him, asking for a sentence of condemnation against him. 16 I answered them that it was not the custom of the Romans to give up anyone before the accused met the accusers face to face and had opportunity to make his defense concerning the charge laid against him. 17 So when they came together here, I made no delay, but on the next day took my seat on the tribunal and ordered the man to be brought. 18 When the accusers stood up, they brought no charge in his case of such evils as I supposed. 19 Rather they had certain points of dispute with him about their own religion and about a certain Jesus, who was dead, but whom Paul asserted to be alive.
Just when everyone thought Jesus was dead, Paul kept preaching Jesus is alive!
And that was exactly what Jesus said and promised and as revealed in Scripture!
19སྐྱབས་མགོན་ཡེ་ཤུས་འདི་སྐད༌དུ། གལ་ཏེ་ཁྱོད་ཅག་གིས་མཆོད་ཁང་འདི་བཤིག་ན། བདག་གིས་ཉིན་གསུམ་ལ་སླར་ཡང་བརྩིག་པར་བྱ་ཞེས་གསུངས་སོ།།
